You would need a propulsion system (most likely motors), a payload (in the case of Warfare: a bomb or gun), and either a remote control or autopilot. I think the earliest remote is more than forty years older than the first autopilot, but those are both primitive versions than might not be good enough for a drone.
Keep in mind there are also those more advanced high-altitude drones besides the simpler, more familiar ones.
True, but an advanced drone requires a simple drone to advance it from. And a simple drone could work for warfare if your opponent doesn’t know too/can’t shoot it down.
I guess so. It’s not like battle simulations will involve individual drones in a 3D simulated environment or anything anyways…
Good point. A cheap drone with a bomb could be mass produced, and shooting it down would likely just set off the bomb. They might actually be better. I wonder how “Aerial Detection” would work. A small, low flying drone might actually be harder to detect than a big, high flying one.
Radars. And scouts if the mechanical aid isn’t present to see for them.
