Treestump's Evo Game

We have updated the original rules and evolution document a bit with new pictures and a bit more information on larval forms. you can find it here

New document on environment and plants and be found here

second post shortly with this turn .

Round 1
@TeaKing @Pentaphon @OoferDoofer @MisterMustachio

Map and evo tree

Creatures
Vermis divisia

Many creatures have split off from Vermis divisia but its population remains steady despite competition

Vermis denissiama

Vermis denissima splits from Vermis divisia, gains cartilage fins, seta and grows in size

Vermis teaus

Vermis teaus splits from Vermis divisia, doubles its front fins and gains seta on one and grasping feeding appendages on the other

Vermis oculus

Vermis oculus splits from Vermis divisia, gains 2 tagma and photosensitive spots on its first tagma

Animalis floralibus

Animalis floralibus population is decreasing slightly from competition with Animalis pentaphonus

Animalis pentaphonus

Animalis pentaphonus splits from Animalis floralibus, growing in size and developing feeding seta on its fans. It is out-competing Animalis floralibus and gains 1 evo point this coming turn.

Plants
Vegrandis viriditas

Small single-cell phytoplankton. Reproduce by splitting.

Mucus oceanum

A mass of symbiotic plant cells that form mats can be anything from a few cm to many meters wide.

Notes

No, you don’t have to change your name every round…but you can if you want

If you think there’s any rules that need changing just tell us

I think I’m gonna drop out.

Nice! Animalis pentaphonus evolves some new traits, and the remaining members of the old species become animalis macrolibus (that’s how it has to work if the old species is still around, right?).

It now retains the larval form for its whole life.
It becomes lighter, with a higher water content for floating.
It grows bigger (so it ends up being the same size as macrolibus).
It gains muscles in its feeding appendages for gentle swimming.

vermis teaus evolves:

1- vibration sensing seta
2- grows bigger
3- starts to feed on other vermids

Vermis oculus

Bigger, bigger, hunts other vermis.

Just finishing the next turn and have a question. When you say has a higher water content do you mean like a jellyfish is made of jelly or do you more mean something like a simple bladder sack ie a space which is full of water within the body?

Like a jellyfish. (filler)

Round 2
@TeaKing @Pentaphon @OoferDoofer

sorry too see you go :frowning:

Worm size comparison, map, document links and evo tree

Biomes are listed in the document here
link to the rules and evolutions list here

Creatures
Vermis divisia

Population is declining but yet endangered.

Vermis denissiama

Population declining but not yet endangered

Vermis Teaus

Its vibration seta helps it guide itself to other creatures and it is able to feed on smaller vermis and can hold on with their feeding limbs but can not feed on larger adult creatures due to lack of ability to break down the organisms.

Vermis oculus

Vermis oculus’ larger size allows it to eat a wider range of Vermis but still unable to eat full adults and lacks Vermis teaus’ ability to hold on to prey

Animalis floralibus

The population is declining due to competition though is not endangered yet.

Animalis macrolibus

Thriving due to a lack of predation.

Animalis pentophonus

The population is doing well, no predation once it reaches a larger size and it is slightly more mobile than the Vermis due to lighten weight and muscular arms aiding movement.

Plants
Vegrandis Viriditas

population decreasing slightly as there is an expansion of animals and Mucus oceanum is starting to block light more.

Mucus oceanum

Spreading rapidly creating huge rafts of plant life, very little predation due to difficult of filter feeders eating large groups. Starting to block sunlight in places.

Notes

Increasing size increases size by 15% as standard/max if you want something different say.

We might add in some natural disasters at some point, we will see how things go.

Pentaphonus evolves a nerve system to coordinate swimming, specialized smell seta near its body and localized broadcast spawning.

teaus now becomes vermis predatora and gets:
nerves, grows bigger, and evolves a cartilage endoskeleton

V. Oculus becomes V. Nyeheus, and evolves:

  • A grabbing pair of limbs, due to a duplication, and later on, mutation (the proto-grabbers grew longer, slightly harder, and more prehensile) of the first pair of fins on the first tagma
  • Nerves, to coordinate swimming and to use the eye to direct movement to food and shelter if need be (would this count as a behavior change?)

I think these all work, although they may be a bit much. Tell me if I need to cut out anything!

Welcome to the game! its great to see you’re joining!
just so you know you can only have 3 mutations per round

Welcome to the game @Smog!

No, I think that is just better use of existing behaviours, changes would be things like changing the body movements used to swim like going from flapping fins to moving the whole body like a snake or going from filter-feeding to active predation.

Yes you should, you have a total of 5 evolutions but Vermis oculus has 3 evo points, can you pick which mutations you want this time?

do you mean the seta on the part of the limb connecting to the body?

Also few quick updates

We have been looking at teeth and decided you could get them from a cartilage evo without having bones first ie sharks.

Animalis macrolibus should have 4 evo points this round

  • Keep behavioural changes how they are
  • Make behavioural changes free
  • Allow 1 free behavioural change

making behaviour change free all the time is too op
but keeping it this way is also a bit unreasonable, so ill go with 1 free change per round

Yes, that is what I mean. Do I need to evolve macrolibus too?

That’s entirely up to you, it can stay as it is and be available for others to evolve off and may or may not die out at some point.

Alright, edited! Thanks for the welcome!

Alright, macrolibus grows to be twice as large, becomes capable of living in deeper, colder waters, evolves broadcast spawning and gains a cartilaginous tube around its body (for structure, there’s no predation pressure yet).

If someone else wants to take it over that’s okay too.
