Always has been. The 1936 olympics were held in germany 3 years before WW2.
Exit: I heard somewhere sometime ago that Adolf H announcing the 1936 games would have been one of the first radio broadcasts strong enough to able be detectable from outside the solar system. Hearsay I know.
But that has got to be one of the worst people possible to introduce ourselves to the local cluster with.

Donโt radio signals become incomprehensible not too far into the cosmos?
I donโt know much about radio, but I donโt think there would be much in a vacuum to make the modulation become decoherent though;
so wouldnโt it have to be by losing strength over the distance (squared) until itโs below background level?
The radius of our radio bubble is over a hundred light years now.
