If you engulf a cell while it’s ejecting a cell, then the ejected cell has a chance of just sitting there motionless and uninteractable.
My guess as to why is that it has something to do with the ejection animation not ending and spawning the cell back in. I also saw Engulfed object doesn't have attached to component set when doing bulk animation showing up constantly in that stage, which might also have something to do with it. See log

Were there by any chance abnormalities with the ingested matter meter during the duration of this glitch?
There is a pretty rare condition to trigger where an ejected entity just gets broken and sticks around as a ghost / zombie cell that cannot be interacted with.
That is likely related. And most likely this is related as the message is related to an engulfed entity not being setup correctly so the normal operations cannot proceed.
As this is quite a rare problem it is kind of unlikely to be fixed.
Kind of related on Saturday’s Thrivestream I vented a bit about how the engulf mechanic is way too complex in terms of functionality and it causes an absolute ton of bugs that are super difficult to solve.
