Which does the game use: British or American English?

I know, I know, this is a very small/obscure detail in the grand scheme of things. But I’d like to know what the devs prefer.

The most major examples of the difference right now are probably Fossilisation vs. Fossilization, Behaviour vs. Behavior, and Centre vs. Center.

I see both styles used; Society Center here, but Fossilisation there. The dev wiki seems to have a strong mix, while the game/Thriveopedia tends to lean towards British.

The intent is to use British English. Though it is not always easy to enforce as there’s way more American English speakers helping make the game. And I’m not a native speaker so a lot of stuff probably slips through. Though the “center” spelling is intentional on my part because I refuse to accept that a word ending in “r” sound is spelled so that the “r” letter is not the last letter (as a Finnish person I’m in general offended each time a word is not spelled the way it is said, which is basically always in English).

English is pretty rare with the fact that what is written usually does not correspond to what is spoken. Most European languages are more consistent with that.

This is equal to the hispanic discution of “Aguacate Vs Palta” or “Fresa Vs Frutilla” in my opinion

Yeah, English is not actually special in and of itself. English is special because everyone knows about it and it’s a bit worse than the most obvious comparisons, but if you look, a lot of languages have unhinged pronunciations, and a lot of former imperial holdings have weird spellings or regularized spellings, but in English and few other languages, the mothertongue holds MUCH less sway than the colony.

Pretty sure that british english is still taught as a standard in most schools outside of english-speaking countries. I would say that BE is preffered by the schools and AE by many of the schooled.
