Accidental Multicellular life (?)

This doesn’t seem to be an intentional feature. But, I’ve seen two (rarely three) cells clump up and move together. I’ll follow them around for a while and they don’t separate. They’re easy prey for obvious reasons, but when they can produce toxins they are quite a force. Has anyone else seen these?

That’s pretty dope. Nothing multi-cellular has been added to the game and yet we are still seeing the evolution system show some sort of incentive for cells to clump up together.

I don’t think I’ve seen behaviour like that, but I probably saw its precursor in the form of two cells staying close to each other.

Holy fuck am I the only one amazed by how meta this is ?

Wow the multicellular stage hasn’t even been added yet and auto-evo has already beat me at getting there.

honestly maybe this is how they could program for you to start a multi-cellular life like maybe you could have a button to official link two cells after you’ve evolved into a certain size, and then after you’ve linked with a couple of cells for about 3 minutes you could be considered to be a multi-cellular life form?

Very interesting, i doubt you have the species name anymore but it would be interesting to see what the name of the species is (well theres actually two species in that image). I have seen some very unexpected things evolve aswell (as the one who created the system, the behavior system etc), its very awesome to see

I’ve seen it with the same species too. But in this case I think what’s happening is that they’re trying to eat each other but for whatever reason it isn’t working, but they keep trying. I think this should be something added that you can evolve this after a while, that when the cell splits, the two cells stay attached.

That’s it! The devs don’t need to program anything anymore, let’s just wait for a bit and we’ll have aware life-forms in no time!

Just leave the simulation running long enough and eventually they’ll build an entire civilisation in there.

Cells have created housing out of other cells! Miniature Venus Flytraps are being made out of smaller cells being attached to larger cells! Will civilization emerge from symbiosis? How far will these resilient microbes continue to dominate the food chain?

This has just happened to me, this clump even has cells of different species!
They were all eaten just after taking the screenshot tho, so it doesn’t look like their clumping strategy was that good anyway

Its official, multicellular organisms are inferior.

Multicellular stage cancelled everyone. Go home.

What if I want to be inferior? wink

Coolio, that only means the full release is nearer than we thought

…or they’re just attracted to each other, perhaps trying to engulf. I’ve seen microbes just follow each other around and not do much other than that. Even microbes with toxin vacuoles have followed me around and just bumped into me.

They’re probably trying to engulf each other, but failing, since they’re too small to eat the other one.

Not sure about that, I didn’t see them flashing blue

AI not wasting ATP on trying to engulf cells they can’t engulf.
