The electro crabs have done well, and the shark population is nearly dying. However, some of these sharks, like usual, have gotten stealthy enough to prey on these electro-crabs, so the population is still smaller than what it could be.
The gunner crabs begin a mass killing of the seas, as this venomous gas has begun to pervade all of the oceans. The shallows are being cleared of life as this occurs, and many of the coral reefs in the area die due to all of the polyps getting killed. Many ecosystems are dying out, and the rest of them have begun fleeing to the middle of the ocean. Those that flee to the deep are food for the squids and the electro crabs and sharks.
In the end, the only things left in the shallows of the oceans are the gunner crabs.
The shallows have begun to bounce back, and the herbivorous animals are next. However, it is slow, as the venom is everywhere now, and the open ocean is growing scarce.
The Caudels are thriving, and have all spread to land by now. However, there are wayyy to many herbivores to sustain an ecosystem. Plants are beginning to get all chewed up, entire forests being demolished. Carnivores need to come to keep the balance.
The first sentient primates have evolved! However, they are not the only ones. The Shovel-squids, the ones well on their way to sentience, have begun to resist the poisons made by the gunner crabs, and so have the propeller crabs, as they are the gunner crab’s distant relatives. The shovel-squid has gained sentience, and has begun to form little tribes of people. They ride on their propeller-crabs which are not so dumb themselves, and use bone, coral, and other such things as tools. The squids are also now four feet long.
The terror birds have survived, although they are somewhat smaller in form, and are getting more and more herbivorous. However, the wing-clippers have maintained their carnivorous nature, and are helping to curb the spread of the herbivores.
The carnivores are now growing, and the ecosystem is balanced, as detritivores come to feast on the now larger amounts of carnivores in the area.
The poison has begun to fade from the sea as more and more animals either die or grow resistant to it.
The deep ocean squid has begun to eat the shovel squids, which have begun to use tools to fight off these large beasts. They have also formed a relationship with the electro crabs, although most populations of them remain wild.
The squids are still amphibious, but due to their hand-tentacles and shovel tentacles, they are slowly building waterways that allow them to somewhat “take over” small ponds and such in the area. However, they are still evolving the ability to breathe outside of water.
The first contact between a Hominid and a Sentient Shovel-squid has occured, and it was peaceful, with both of them just doing things they needed to survive. The Hominid was somewhat scared of the spiky propeller-crab which had accompanied it, but it was no true trouble.
Terror-birds have become only two feet tall, although they are still terrible. A group of them have been coming closer and closer to the hominids, as they have meat for food.
Caudels are doing fine, and although they still retain some fish-like tendencies, they are mostly land animals now, with their tails doing many versatile things. They come into conflict with the primates and prosimians in the area.
The propeller crabs and sentient squid become far more terrestrial, leading to the squid discovering fire.
An arachnid becomes very large, and gains bones, a powerful lung, and a more efficient circulatory system
The arachnid’s pedipalps turn into stinger-bearing appendages, and the forelegs turn into short chelae. They also gain vibration sensors on their pedipalps
The squids and their crabs are now fully terrestrial, with the squids having adapted their shovels into primitive mollusc feet. They still rely on the propeller crabs to get around, though
