I presume the cold setting is to minimize thermosynthesis, correct?

yeah basically, but to also compliment the “small planet” setting, like the core heat is so small, the whole thing is colder

probably, since i feel like thrive is getting too easy for me (like genuinely the hard difficulty is not really hard for me anymore)

I presume a harder challenge would be mostly about more restrictions?

while creating a new world, set the difficulty to hard, and lower the concentrations of every resource (including radiation) to the minimum, set the world/planet size to small, set climate and geological to unstable/cold, photosynthesis/respiration is NOT ALLOWED, you must have starting location as panspermia, and finally: you cannot change your tolerance at all!

I sometimes play with AI mutation maximum, Osmoregulation multiplier maximum, Player mutation minimum, resource cloud density minimum, all resources concentrations amount minimum, Player death impact maximum, Resource depletion rate to the maximum, Auto-Evo Strength 100%, along with a Large world with Large Oceans that is Geologically Active and has an Unstable Climate. I might also try with your challenges restrictions. It is basically Extreme+ Difficulty. And no, I have yet to beat it.

The scrapped hardcore mode would make this plenty more painful…

This challenge was in even crazier when AI mutation rate could be set to 5 (now the max is 3). Literally having Kaiju-sized (200+ hex) cells around you.

Iirc you can still get similar sized cells if you wait long enough
