Dandori

You are coming from the same species, just different onions. So your onions can make dracula pikmin, while Cha’s can’t.

I don’t think that’s just a dracula… soon enough it might rather be… Waxozech.

Though funny enough onions do intermix somehow, but this only occurs in pikmin 3 and 4 otherwise all onions are indepdent in pikmin 1 and 2 with white pikmin and purple not having a onion

How are onions created?

I believe onions have never been dicussed how they reproduce, unless I missed it somewhere from Olimar’s notes

I do believe, though this isn’t canon just a theory that Pikmin without a onion plant themselves and become a new onion for the rest of the Pikmin

Wouldn’t this create an incentive for the pikmin to just leave their onion and create a new one since that’d give them more power?

Eh not really, they’re eusocial the onion is like a ant queen it is a incentive to protect and feed it to further the species, when its full though (which pikmin games doesnt have a max inside though outside its a 100 for olimar) it likely sends either a lone pikmin or a small group to form their own colony.

though once more a theory more than actual canon

And from what I know Pikmin does not interact with onions of other pikmin unless forced and seem to not interact outside their onion to other pikmin, not to mention the native predatory life which will killl and hunt them as pikmin are somewhat low on the food chain

I see.
And because of that I can guess a pikmin has the genetic information of it’s parent onion, right?

Most likely yes, unless white or purple pikmin which lack this onion only having flowers to change pikmin into another species of pikmin (there’s also the onion pikmin flowers but that’s a game mechanic most likely more than a actual species needing it cause you can change any pikmin to any other pikmin that way by throwing them inside it

I wonder if this sort of “casted” plant type could potentially attain viable sapience if one of it’s parts became more animal-like…

The flower or the Pikmin

I was talking about “plants with castes” in general, of which to my knowledge no exist in real life.

There’s some aggressive mimicry animals which looks like flowers and a walking fungi species though they’re not the most odd ones. I do believe pikmin does not like forgein pikmin unless forced together via Olimar whistle as otherwise they seem to hunt in small packs or alone.

Oh also there’s a titan of wildlife even if they’re small to humans in pikmin named Emperor and Empress Bulblaxs

I wonder how have the pikmin come to be like this…

I can guess they are a lone lineage, branch of that planet’s tree of life. Maybe they used to have more relatives similar to them?

No clue, Pikmin doesn’t seem to have mentioned relatives besides other Pikmin variants of course

Through they are native to that planet, right?

Pikmin yes, they’re native to the planet which is likely just earth after blowing itself up

By the way, you’re now only about 400 posts away from becoming spacefaring. How do you feel about that?
