Pikmin katomiso evolve to have its eyes and arms lower towards the leg as the “vine” that leads to the leaf at the top splits into two to mimic actual sticks with them being oddly shaped and not standard form so they don’t all look the same when foraging

We’ll see what can the onion evolve into now that it has all the features of an onion…

I mean its a bit different from a real onion its just called a “onion” by Olimar cause it reminds him of one, I have no idea however why he knows what a onion is

I meant what AA’s species has become…

Alright, it can be a bit confusing with the Onion and the pikmin onion

Also new species are apparently ought to split off soon…

Maybe hocotatian “onions” are similar to real onions, but don’t do photosynthesis. We know that there is no photosynthesis on Hocotate or Koppai or Giya or all the pikmin people planets because none of them pikmin people can withstand oxygen. By “pikmin people,” I don’t mean the Pikmin, I mean the castaways and stuff. If you are wondering why Oatchi can handle oxygen, then he’s descended from earth dogs.

If there is no photosynthesis, then it can be assumed the role of producers was taken up by chemosynthesizers?

That’s the odd thing there’s photosynthesis as trees still exist and greenery nvm we talked about olimars home planet

I wonder what would happen if pikmin (or the onions) became sapient…

Yeah. Hocotatians must have enough chemical resistance to put most extremophiles on earth to shame though, because a LOT of hydrogen sulfide is needed to keep chemosynthesis the dominant autotrophy for billions of years…

What sort of influence will this have on the pikmin of this FG?

The pikmin are on PNF-404, which is a completely different planet from Hocotate… It’s actually implied to be future Earth.

Rather strange directions has life taken on Earth then in the pikminverse…

Well, in the games, it is earth 250 million years in future… 250 mya was the Great Dying.

It still seems interesting that plants have developed a pikmin lineage in that timespan…

Lillium Altusurculifructum has now fruiting bodies growing from each of its two stems. The stems themselves have become longer and thicker to accommodate these new fruiting bodies. These fruiting bodies become red, yellow, green, or orange pepper-shaped fruit, and then can be pulled off harmless by Stink Pikmin. These “peppers” are actually organic grenades that explode with the Pikmin equivalent of Mace spray when impacting a surface, and are used to further deter predators from itself and its fellow Pikmin. Additionally, the Stink Pikmin has become slightly larger and more round, growing another internal layer inside the previous one, but like the previous internal layer, this one cannot come off.
