Not sure it would attain much popularity thoughβ¦
Probably not. But itβs possible! And at least enough popularity that it wouldnβt be mentally insane to represent.
If thereβs metal music religion, what other sort of new religion movements should be represented?
I think weβd have like 50 variables for a religion, that range from how rituals are performed to the status of music (it goes from prohibited to venerated in this example). And a religious movement could be demanding a religious reform or a religious split or protesting a new change and asking for it to reverted ect.
In mid/late space stage would religion be expected to die out?
Probably not, I can definitely see a mono-religious fanatic species for an example, but maybe in others it would die out.
I suppose the creation rates of new βseriousβ religions would decline?
Conspiracy theories would not be considered as a part of religion, right? I could see every time your species enters a new stage, or substage, new conspiracy theories pop up.
Shouldnβt they pop up all the time after some point?
What if the Player made religion is about conspiracies?
Then even more would pop up I guess.
Most likely, thatβd be a good way to go about it.
And conspiracy theories would probably be represented via some small movements (mini movements? Pre movements?) or maybe a better option would be to add an ideology system, that would take effect on the early modern era/ industrial era.
Would conspiracies be always negative for the player or could they have a good side?
One way that could be is if people believe in tame conspiracies while the player is doing things that the population would hate even more (secretly), so it retroactively benefits the player without directly helping them.
By the way, how would disinformation/fake news be handled in the game, in the field of religion for example? Could you be fooled a divine event is actually happening?
It would probably be in the form of almost exclusively rumors early on, and when the spread of information is made so easy/commercialized it probably would have a similar style of effect to that corruption will have, however that one is handled.
Speaking of corruption, could religion impact that aswell?
Oh yeah, negatively and positively, it would if religiousness(?) or fervor is high enough decrease it, but if letβs say whatever religious establishment was corrupt, it would increase (per amount of time or something)
Would the establishment being corrupted be a rng chance?
Maybe Iβd be a process that happens slowly? Due to low cohesion, wealth inequality and the player having too much control over them as if to represent bribery and such.
