IIRC, some serious work was put towards it, then some changes were made to other parts of the game that made the work already done need to be started from scratch, and it became “Stuck/Help Wanted”

The only reason those make glucose now is because Rubisco failed to be finished. It is listed as a “Sin”, and if Rubisco WAS finished, those would definitely be reverted back to produce ATP again.

It was only scrapped due to the difficulty in implementing it. The main problem was that how much ATP per second should be turned into glucose? That’s very hard to balance because the speed needs to be dynamic so that the organelle doesn’t just drain your ATP balance to 0, but only activates when you are full up on ATP and would like to actually store it.

Would the code done for it still work currently or is it too old now?

I have started work on the upgrade system for the thylakoids, which are the most outrageous offenders here (they don’t even make glucose IRL).

It does not work yet, but the GUI and some supporting scripts are partly made, but are super messy. If anyone here knows how to code, feel free to add whatever (but limit to thylakoids, please).

So you are leaving the rest of this endeveour to be done by someone else? You know there are dozens if not hundreds of such ideas partly implemented waiting to be completed still right?

I’m not planning to leave this half-made, but even if I was then it is still something I have contributed to Thrive. It wasn’t there before.

I might skimp out on Auto Evo and just make them all use the sugar creation process or just make them all use the ATP process, I don’t know how hard auto evo code is to change and I also have to make sure saves work.

I suppose it’d be somewhat weird since pretty sure every other modified organelle can be evolved by autoevo organisms by this point

Edit: Also I recall Hhyyrylainen basically said any new features made by volunteers would need to be finished on arrival

I think that auto-evo needs to be properly fixed up for any change to the microbe stage at this point, because otherwise we go back to that one point I mentioned a bit ago: people changing the microbe stage and “breaking” it so that other developers are forced to go back to work on it.

If a feature isn’t quite finished, so for instance missing autoevo integration, could it be added to the experimental features bundle instead of the base game?
