How should the Thrive community celebrate the release of 1.0.0.0 and the completion of other game stages?

Are there any plans for a special celebration or event to commemorate the release of 1.0.0.0? Should similar events be held for the release of other stages of Thrive being completed?

Maybe the thrivestream for that release will be special in some way?

That would not be a community celebration at all… rather it would be one by the developers.

If the multiplayer prototype that was develop a long time ago did make it, perhaps we could’ve organized an event in the game itself, but oh well that isn’t happening.

Linking to the 0.4.0 hype thread for reference.

Did 0.5.0 have something similar?

No, it hadn’t. The hype surrounding 0.4.0 was largely because its release came more than a year and a half[1] after 0.3.4. The devblog before 0.4.0’s release even said:

W_e’re not dead_.

We’re back. And things are about to get exciting.

Reading the devblog made me want to read the others before it written by the ancient ones.

Well we can’t say “We’re back” for 1.0.0 so instead maybe we should say “We have proven the haters false” or something, since they always say Thrive hasn’t even finished microbe stage after so many years of development (despite that not really being a valid argument).

I would strongly recommend not going with a negative, oppositional statement as a slogan. I don’t think that fits with what Thrive wants to be.

Yeah. Maybe something like “we finally did it!” (but worded better of course) would work?

Why is this thread constantly drifting into what us developers should do for 1.0.0 rather than how the community should celebrate?

I mean, I think most “release celebrations” are already dev-centric celebrations so that’s where this might be coming from.
For a community celebrations, since this it microbe stage becoming “complete”, perhaps some kind of competition for an in-game microbe species that’d then be voted on by the community to… choose it as the “mascot” of the microbe stage perhaps?

Could we do some sort of collaborative event with Thrive YouTubers?

We’ll need to reach out to them first.

Submit fanart of multicellular creatures?

I think that would be for when we are done with multicellular and not microbe…

True. Maybe the community can submit microbial art instead.

Yeah that seems like a good solution. Maybe it would finally be an another art contest too?

On the developer’s forum, Build-Up to 1.0.0.0 - Meta, Deus post this meme:

Makes me wonder if we should have another meme contest along with the art contest?

I suppose so, the last “serious” one was so long ago afterall…
