It’s kind of ironic for the format, idle games are simple but this one is about a complex brain!

Complex stuff can be explained simply in some cases…

How come no one has mentioned Flappy Bird, assuming the game still exists.

I mean, it is a click-game but it also requires an admirable amount of skill to fully beat…

It isn’t an idle game. It can’t progress in the background automatically, a key feature of idle games.

What would be an example of a non-clicker idle game?

Antimatter dimensions is a good example, as well as NGU idle.

Antimatter dimensions is about creating a comical amount of, well, antimatter, while NGU idle is set in a generic fantasy world where you can fight fluff balls and sticks for some reason.

What would be the opposite of an idle game?

The max un-idle ness a game can be is to have your full brain power directed to the game at all times, something impossible if you want it to run in the background.

It doesn’t have to be run in the background if it’s the opposite of an idle game.
Albeit this sort of “focused on it all the time” could be some kind of “game-ized brainrot”…

But this thread isn’t about hypothetical anti-idle games, but idle games. Did you know Orteil (the guy who made cookie clicker) made a simple script thing to make your own idle games?

Does Dice game count?

Yes, because it can be run in the background.

Would some sort of “view countries rise and fall” game-in-the-background count?

There also has to be a number at the core of the game going up. In a game like that, there is no core number.

Would the banana game that took over steam sometime ago count as an idle game?

I’m not sure that ran in the background, so no.

What is the most borderline idle game you can think of?
