Insect Appreciation Thread

To be fair, lots of insects have seethrough wings…

I believe this species has very unique structural wing properties, but I am not a Lepidopterologist, so I could be wrong.

It would be probably terrifying.
Though I don’t recall wetas forming swarms…

I never said they formed swarms, only told you to imagine if they did and one was outside your house.

There apparently exist smaller, parasitic and rather immobile arthropods…

There is a crustacean called Dendrogaster that parasitizes on sea stars. It takes someone to tell you it’s a crustacean to know it’s a crustacean.

Yeah… Add some active breathing instead of passive, and you can reach sizes of probably 5m and it will still fly.

At some point structural and internal changes might be needed to still have such a moth be capable of becoming airborne…
