I will use the nearest in game organelles for those. Like for Proterhodopsin, I will use thylakoids as a stand in, but I might turn off its cytoplasmic glycolysis and turn the photosynthesis off when lux gets below 25%.

10% chance to hit a patch. Only one patch will be hit at once, since I don’t want everything to instantly go extinct. Also, yes, I will randomly determine which patch will be hit.
