MOTHER series dialogue thread

Welcome back, @Cychlo!

I have always wanted to watch the Earthbound/Mother series, since I loved playing as Ness in the original Nintendo 64 Super Smash Bros. Like @JustaDumbThriver, I started to be interested when MatPat was still host of the Game Theorist channels (I still miss him).

First, I need to finish watching the first half of FFXIV: A realm reborn. It takes a loooong time to watch the content, specially since the person I watch does not skip the dialgoues and takes time to do all the quests (including optional sidequests).

With AA’s response, in due time there’ll be 3…

Maybe by 2026, there will be 10!

Edit: @AnthropocenianAge Do you just say “watch” instead of “play?” Because buying a video game can put stress on anybody’s finance… while rom downloading is free!

Maybe they don’t have the time to properly play it so they watch it instead?

Yeah, I geuss that is a possibility.

Other option is that they don’t really wish to play all these games because maybe they’re too expensive…

Well, downloading the rom is free, you can just get it on Fantasy Anime.

And it’s pretty light too…

Very light like most SNES games… I bet you can actually have a few hundred SNES games on your hard drive nowadays.

I might try it someday.

In Earthbound (Mother 2), one of the battle lines is this:
“The Hippie pulled out a ruler! Now, he can find the length of things easily.”

Well, as long as the things can be measured easily…

that actually makes his accuracy go up, and isn’t just a wasted turn! (idk if this is common knowledge or not but I only found out recently lol)

According to starmen.net’s guide for enemies, it just does nothing: STARMEN.NET - EBDB - New Age Retro Hippie

The only real use is to give it to a monkey and advance the story, apparently.

So a thing similar to the fly honey cause?

No, you can only give it to a monkey for a quest, it does not matter. I assume the quest gives you money or something.

So you’ve never completed it?

I never even got to the monkey… Currently in my plraythrough I’m at the Happy Happy Village, which is overrun by a cult.

Certified nintendo game :trade_mark:
(you can tell that’s a joke)
