My Singing Thrivers

So I’m sure some people here have heard of My Singing Monsters, where you develop groups of monsters that sing and play music. A similar idea for Thrive was lingering in my head, so i brought it to life here. Plus Thrive Odyssey got way out of hand, and I think this forum needs a nice break. I suggest you go listen to the Thrive Soundtrack on Youtube for ideas.

The way you play this game is:

  1. You make a change to an existing creature/society, which would be considered evolution, and making it your own. Include the changes in a description.
  2. Assign the creature/society to an instrument and explain why you think it fits.
  3. Post your creature/society’s contribution to the song and how it adds on or replaces another creature/society’s role.

The rules here are similar to Darwin 3:

  1. Make the changes gradual, so no sudden fire breathing or electric guitars
  2. Make the changes realistic, so no planet-sized organisms.
  3. It is best you play your part according to and making sense with the stage of the game.
  4. While not a rule, it is best not to get attached to your organisms, or else any extinction event would be thousand times more depressing than it should.
  5. The song is in 110 Bpm.

Now, let us begin.
I’ll start with Primum Baspov, essentially a placeholder for the starting species in-game.
Name: Primum Baspov
Stage: Early Microbe
Description: No more than a micelle moving with the current. It lives around hydrothermal vents, which provide it heat and chemical energy. Using the energy and the compounds from the environment, it can manufacture biomolecules within itself, ultimately allowing the blob to split and make two copies of itself.
Sound: The pop from the Microbe Ambience; for a layman, a micelle is a living bubble.
Contribution: At first, it sounds exactly like the Microbe Ambience. Then, after 16 beats or so, Baspov starts “popping” with a rhythm every 2 beats.

Now make this a song for the ages!

Name: Primum blubbuli
Ancestor: Primum baspov
Description: like its ancestor, but larger and with a flexible membrane covering the microbe, allowing it to be more maneuverable and swallow more chemicals
Sound: a sort of diving sound from microbe ambience, the membrane would ripple, making a sound similar to faint diving
Contribution: the microbe would start rippling atleast 32 beats after Primum Baspov start popping

Name: Primum bubbler
Ancestor : Primum blubbuli
Description : same as ancestor, but with more surface area to swallow even more
Sound: uses the surface area for stronger bubbling than Primum baspov, also ripples a little because of the roots from Primum blubbuli.
Contribution: Starts Bubbling 12 beats after Primum blubbuli

Name Maexico Bapov
Ancestor : Primum Baspov
Description: Unlike the Ancestor it Has loose objects inside and more mebrane rigidity
Sound: Uses loose objects like a maraca
Contribution: Starts making it’s sound at the same time as Primum blubbuli

Name: metal ballers (metalicus circulus), are common names allowed?
Ancestor: maexico bapov
Description: the loose objects are now spread outward, resulting in “limbs” that make it look like a starfish
Sound: the “limbs” can click together to create a hi hat
Contribution: play at the same time as Primum Baspov, often clicking four times, with eight beats between clicks

Name: Iron Ballers (ferrum circulus)
Ancestor: metalicus circulus
Description : Now with iron balls, the sound is more clacy, preserving all other features of the ancestor.
Sound: the limbs clack even more, like a primitive version of cymbals.
Contribution: play at the same time as maexico bapov. click 4 times with 12 beats between clicks.

Yes, common names are allowed.
Name: Green blober (Choanae Automus)
Ancestor: Primum bubbler
Description: With barely enough surface area to support its massive volume, it migrates to the surface of the ocean and invests in photosynthesis with chlorophyll; it’s the ancestor of the chloroplast.
Sound: Low-key synth, like the normal microbe themes; the sunlight being absorbed is beyond the planet, yet forms strings (rays) to be bowed.
Contribution: Plays after the introduction of Primum Bubbler; by this point the ambience is gone

Name: Commonae Plant (Choanae Phyto)
Ancestor: Iron Ballers & Green Blobber
Stage:Late Microbe
Description: One of the original plant-like objects. Iron Ballers engulfed a Green Blober(and did not digest it!) and now the stage has become the late stage, in another world, this happened with a Big Cell and a “mitochondrion” and lead to the ancestor of all life in that world 3.8 billion years ago.
Contribution: Plays 8 beats after the introduction of Primum Bubbler. Has higher rippling and can now use a lead synth.

Name: the colonial plant (Choanae colonius)
Ancestor: Commonae Plant
Description: they now have more “limbs”, which all point forwards, they are also colonial, sharing food they get from sunlight with the other members of its species, which they to connect through their “limbs”, also, the balls can glows, giving it a slight bioluminescent color at night
Sound: a light ambience, caused by the glowing of the balls, like the original ambience, but higher pitched
Contribution: starts playing when the original ambience is gone

Name: bass bubble (Bubbler Bassus)
Ancestor: Primum Bubbler
Description: it now have a few vacuoles containing glucose and other important chemicals, in case the water becomes low on them
Sound: the vacuoles can expand, resulting in a chord like bass
Contribution: plays after the introduction of Primum Bubbler

(Can I put two species in one post?)

We entered the primitive multicellular stages

Name: True Plant (Choanae Multicompara)
Ancestor: Choanae Colonius
Stage : Multicellular
Description: Now the colony has evolved so that the colony’s collective code is now stored in the DNA, these are the first true multicellular objects.
Sound: Swooshes in the water current.
Contribution: plays after the introduction of Choanae colonius

EDIT : are multicellulars allowed?

It seems a little early, don’t you think?

Name: Orange Bobler (Mitocae Automus)
Ancestor: Green Bobler
Description: An Offshoot of the original Bobler, this species instead used oxygen to make its ATP, balancing out its ancestor.
Sound: A bassoonish synth, since it uses air instead of making it; plays off the Orange’s “strings”
Contribution: Plays 8 beats after Green Bobler

Name: Cyclar Planimal (Choanae Euglanae)
Ancestor: Colonial Plant and Orange Bobler
Description: After living among its fellow colonists, one cell managed to absorb an Orange Bobler. Now having the ability to multitask with energy, it becomes the first organism to develop a life cycle. It first lives inside the hollow inside of the spherical Colonials, multiplying into a spherical 8-cell clump within the colony. Once they are 8, they leave the colony and go their separate ways. It is here that it grows a flagella and becomes more oval-shaped to make life outside easier. When it’s ready to eight-fold again, it enters a colony similar to a sperm entering the egg, losing its flagella in the process and returning to its circular form.
Sound: An intermittent sparkly ambience, representing its life inside and outside the colony.
Contribution: Plays along with the Colonial Plant.

Name: Colonial Streaker (Pilus nowus)
Ancestor: Cyclar Planimal
Description: Eventually, the larval Planimal evolved a pilus, adopting a predatory lifestyle to defend itself before eventually duplicating to make its own colony without the Colonial plant. Plus, it has abandoned the chloroplast in favor of mitochondria and feeds on broken off pits of True Plant. The poor photosynthesizers are broken down by the cells just under the cells that make up the surface. The cells right in the center tend to reproduction, now sexual.
Sound: Synthy Drum kit; the multiple parts of the kit symbolize the multiple roles of the cell types.
Contribution: Plays 16 beats after colonial plant, coexisting with True Plant. Baspov cannot be heard anymore.

3 creatures/societies max per post,
and yes, we are already entering the multicellular stage. This is going all the way to ascension, but we should slow done a bit.

yeah, this is very very very fast-forwarded.

Name: Orange Enerzier (Mitocae Metablosizer)
Ancestor:Orange Bobler
Description: An Offshoot of the Orange Bobler, this species added used some Metabolosomes for MORE PRODUCTION
Sound: A fast-paced bassoonish synth, since it makes energy quicker; plays off the Orange’s “strings”
Contribution: Plays 8 beats after Orange Bobler

Name: Speaed (energicus Maximus)
Ancestor: orange energizer
Description: they develop two flagellas for speed along a few cillas for maneuverability
Sound: a riser like effect caused by the wiggling of flagellas
Contribution: in the parts leading up to the introduction of orange bobler

Name: Deadeye Squirt (Scurrius Detritus)
Ancestor: Colonial Streaker
Description: There was too much dead matter around, so naturally a decomposer appeared from the same larval form to manage that. They’re specialized for the consumption of dead matter from larger organisms. The downside is they’re very sensitive, so the slightest pulse from another nearby species will send them scattering.
Sound: Waterphone; it has that spooky tone related to the corpses, also made by all of them scattering.

Name: Metal Thrasies (Fellum colonius)
Ancestor: Colonial Streaker
Description: The colony has formed a slight outer layer of metal after continuous exposure to iron.
Sound: Snare Drum; clumsy ongoers banging on the surface will make a similar sound
Contribution: Plays two measures after the orange Blober

Name: xyloball (ferrum colonius)
Ancestor: iron baller
Description: they begin living in colonies of hundreds or thousands, with their balls now acting like magnets that attract the balls of other members
Sound: a xylophone sound caused by the contact of the balls
Contribution: play after the introduction of orange blober

(Just a question but, would you or anyone participating in this game make a music out of what we have currently?)

That was my idea from the start, though there may be some differences in the final result.

Name: Stretch Speck
Ancestor: Colonial Streaker
Description: They have further established their role as the herbivores, obtaining a longer, segmented body to get more food. They’ve also gotten slight bioluminescence along their midline.
Sound: Electronic Keyboard; the segments sort of resemble piano keys
Contribution: Plays a measure after colonial streaker

(Unrelated; I’m gonna try Spore Modded for the first time)

Name: Metal Cymball (Fellum Thrasies)
Ancestor: Metal Thrasies & Iron Ballers
Description: The colony invited some Iron Ballers, the Iron Ballers specialized into making iron.
Sound: Cymbals
Contribution: Plays two measures after the Metal Thrasies
