you spawn in as about 100 simple proto-cells, able to feel their DNA replicating and control how it replicates, preventing and\or adding errors as you please, though you can’t feel much else about them except the fact that they are under enough pressure to crush you in an instant had you gone here without spawning in through ascension. you can still think the same as you could before you ascended, which is weird because you now lack specialized cells, especially brain cells. you can tell that there is light but not what kind, though you can tell what kinds there aren’t, those being UV and gamma. if you hadn’t personally felt those in your past life that might have not been the case though.

despite your species having known absolutely nothing about what happened after ascension before you ascended, you know know something that would seem impossible to even your species’ most gullible people before you ascended; if a species controlled by an ascended soul is made extinct by another ascended soul, both souls fuse together and combine all of their information not related to personality and any perks both of them had before they fused get upgraded, during this process the personalities are kept separate so the souls may split when they are ready, though if one gives up all of its information is assimilated into the other, however if an ascended soul gives up afterwards, all its ascension points and perks will be given to the player who last made it extinct, if an ascended soul gives up before being fused with another ascended soul it will shatter into soul shards giving anything that absorbs them godlike powers and perks the soul once had, if a being collects enough of these shards instead of dying it will reincarnate as an entire species, if it is not created by an ascended soul already, in the case that an ascended soul finds all of the soul shards it will transfer all the perks the soul that gave up had to its own soul having the same effect as making another species controlled by an ascended soul extinct but without the addition of a species splitting off due to the absorbed soul needing to control its own species

what each stat does

defense%: reduces damage by a percent of damage dealt
absolute defense: reduces incoming damage by a fixed number, cannot reduce past 0 without specific adaptations

every single way to get ascension perks

  1. use ascension points
  2. level a kleptogenesis part to lvl 10 or higher and steal the perk from one member of a species[7]
  3. make a species extinct to absorb its soul and let the soul split off and make its own species[8]
  4. absorb soul shards made when an ascended soul that has never been made extinct by another ascended soul gives up
  5. go extinct 3 times in a row due to a specific element or combination of elements[9], [10], getting all of the elemental phoenix perks will give you something very special, there are at least 22 elemental phoenix perks so it will take at least 66 rounds to do, and adding in the fact you need to be able to survive after you get them all it’s more like 66 plus 12 in between every set of three extinctions assuming an extinction event happens every 15 rounds

it’s not just unpecialized, it’s basically just water

that’s what cytoplasm is

normally cytoplasm has lots of complex things like proteins, specialized RNA, and organelles in it even when unspecialized, the starting cytoplasm is just slightly ionized water with nothing else in it but nucleotides, sugars, and a single strand of extremely unspecialized RNA, so it’s far closer to just sea water but a bit more ionized than it is to regular cytoplasm, especially with the almost complete lack of metabolic patterns.
