They seem to have designed their organism as if they aren’t splitting off of anyone - would that be possible? Or are they required to be a split from someone?
it would be possible but it would leave them at a disadvantage and i don’t like letting someone start with a disadvantage unless they understand they are at a disadvantage due to how they started
Ascendentes solis Also does splitting off means that I get the ascension perks of the ancestor or not (I think not)
I believe you would get the ascension perks but couldn’t choose your own. I don’t know that for sure though
you get the perks of the ancestor but you have to unlock the perks you chose by dying in various ways, for example extreme heat tolerance would be activated by dying once by exceeding your max temperature, phoenix would be unlocked by going extinct once, and moon gravity would be unlocked by dying to fall damage. though the perks that would be duplicates do not upgrade the original one unless obtained through actions or buying ascension perks or going extinct, and unless obtained through one of those 3 methods they are instead just deleted
Okay thanks for explaining.
@TheForumGameMaster i need your mutation and action
Mutation: develop flagella
Action: feed on marine snow
I am chill with that.
just leave a reaction, stop replying to everything.
as you float around you realize that not all of your ascension perks are active yet, which makes sense due to the fact that some of the ascension perks you could pick were adding parts to the editor and not a passive perk, though despite that you feel a slight tug at the back of your consciousness suggesting there might be more perks than you were given to pick from
you also have a slight hunch that you are barely using a percent of your power to control things

every single way to get ascension perks
- use ascension points
- level a kleptogenesis part to lvl 10 or higher and steal the perk from one member of a species[9]
- make a species extinct to absorb its soul and let the soul split off and make its own species[10]
- absorb soul shards made when an ascended soul that has never been made extinct by another ascended soul gives up
- go extinct 3 times in a row due to a specific element or combination of elements[11], [12], getting all of the elemental phoenix perks will give you something very special, there are at least 22 elemental phoenix perks so it will take at least 66 rounds to do, and adding in the fact you need to be able to survive after you get them all it’s more like 66 plus 12 in between every set of three extinctions assuming an extinction event happens every 15 rounds

this only lasts one generation if the member of the species that took it fails to reproduce or does not incorperate the perk into its genome and the soul it came from ↩︎
if a species has the phoenix perk and you make it extinct its soul will fuse with yours and then split off and revive its own species without giving you the phoenix perk ↩︎
water, earth, fire, and air elements, not periodic table elements ↩︎
unlocks elemental phoenix perks, for example, if you go extinct 3 times in a row due to being crushed by metal or hunted to extinction with metal anything you will get the (not so) secret (anymore) perk called metal phoenix which gives you the ability to turn your body into metal when in danger with the ability to melt around wounds and manipulate the molten metal to remove the wound before turning back into flesh, it also lets you incorperate metals into your body while in metal mode or forge your limbs into weapons and simply melt them back into limbs when they break, you cannot die of blood loss in metal mode meaning you can weld your limbs onto someone else if both of you are in metal mode, this includes the head if you have formed one, and if you die with this perk you will melt into a puddle and respawn at the earliest stage you can survive on your own at(can be prevented with water), these are in addition to the non fire-related parts of the base phoenix perk. extinctions reversed by the base phoenix perk count towards getting an elemental phoenix perk, having the base phoenix perk before getting an elemental phoenix perk will make the elemental part of the phoenix more powerful due to a lack of needing to add magic that reverts death ↩︎

Oh, I had a question - what are the disadvantages to dying? Would are species be completely reset or something/would we lose our ascension perks?
Considering going for the elemental phoinex stuff is why I’m asking
mutation: vacuole
action: head toward food
if you die you get some of your population removed, if you go extinct but not because of another player since you have the phoenix perk you’ll just respawn with the minimum amount of population to not cause severe deformities or an extreme risk of going extinct fas, but if you go extinct to another player is where it gets interesting, if you go extinct and it was caused by a player your soul will combine with theirs and so will your ascension perks -this does not apply to phoenix perks unless the owner of it went extinct 3 times since the last extinction event- and then your souls will split. since you have a phoenix perk instead of splitting off of the species that drove you extinct you will respawn.
mutation: a small lump (<10 nm) of “filler” DNA (which doesn’t actually encode anything important) forms at the cell’s edge, measuring damage to it allows detection of high-energy particles (radiation) in the environment
action: sift through the cavern for radioactive compounds, using radioactive decay for additional heat for thermosynthesis
M: gene stealing pilus.
A: steal cilia from Naranjus mediavorus.
