TeraOPS (operations per second).

kinda a backronym alternative to flops. FLOPS are floating point operations per second, as in, like, math operations on floating point numbers. Terraflops (trillions or 2^30 depending on who you ask) are a measurement of GPU power, not a great one, but useful. There are a few types of floating point numbers, and obviosuly it’s lame to say “I have more terraflops!” When you really only have good terraops on half size floating point numbers, and your enemy has a competitive speed on full sized ones, or even doubles! (for example, lately I think AMD is trouncing Nvidia in half speed, but looses in full sized). In AI though, you don’t need to precision of full sized floats. You can, in fact, get good inference at least, from 4 bit integers. Integers aren’t floats, you you can’t measure them in flops, and if you barely care what kind of number you’re doing math on, it doesn’t make sense to measure your math capacity in floating point operations per second. So, they don’t they measure it in operations per second. You can say that FLOPS are OPS, but OPS are not FLOPS if you want, but no one cares.
