Planet genesis

That’s pretty fast for the FG scene standards…

I’ve done 3/4 species already. Just the Bull Ompard to go…

Minutes are left until the 1st proper round is written!

I’d Say a bit longer, more like 8 hours. I do still need sleep.

Oh I see, I thought you would finish it in just a moment after the 3/4 milestone…

Round 1

@Cha @willow @aah31415 @AnthropocenianAge

The world

88% Complete…

The first seeds of life have been sown, spreading across this fertile world, forming the backbone for an ever-expanding ecosystem. This world will soon be populated by these creatures and their descendants, as long as they manage to survive.

New patch: Desert

Creatures
cha - Greater Ompard

@Cha

A large grazer, with complex mating rituals using ultraviolet plumage.

The Greater Ompard is one of the first few creatures to evolve on this planet. It gained large throat sacs, to increase its stamina (+1 Movement), and a fermentation stomach to process vegetation (+1 foraging level). It also gained basic ultraviolet vision (+1 stealth), and large plumage (Large size) However, it is close to extinction because of competition over food. It could overcome this by either spreading to more patches or evolving predation.

Willow - Pecuarius falsalamandra - False Salamander

@willow

An amphibious reptile that looks like a salamander. Lays slimy eggs that can digest food.

One of the first creatures to emerge on Genesis, this creature quickly evolved swimming legs (+1 speed, +1 swimming) and lung sacs to increase stamina when running and swimming (+1 speed). It also mutated slimy eggs that can digest food that sticks to them (+1 food in aquatic patches). This also has a slight chance of endosymbiosis…

aah31415 - Pecuarius Maxillaavis - Two-Headed Ompard

@aah31415

The Two-Headed Ompard has changed considerably. It has gained extra digestive tracts (+2 Foraging). It also evolved extra heads joined to its new digestive tracts, one of which can scavenge dead corpses (+0.5 food per patch).

AnthropocenianAge - Precuarius taurum - Bull Ompard

@AnthropocenianAge

A stealthy, horned forager.

The Bull Ompard is one of the first few creatures to evolve on this planet. It evolved distinctive Bull-like horns (+1 strength), and eyes on the top of it’s head to see predators (+1 stealth). It also mutated a third pair of legs (+1 movement) and an extra tail for signalling other Bull Ompard is they see hidden predators (+1 stealth). However, it is close to extinction because of competition over food. It could overcome this by either spreading to more patches or evolving predation.

I wonder If any predators will evolve this round…

1 Like

M1: lay eggs on small plants(especially moss and algae)
M2: contractile vacuoles so eggs can be in shallow fresh water without overhydrating

Is it possible to increase the mutation rate of our critters?

You will be able to later, but not yet. Probably around round 14.

1 Like

…Which is around when the “progress bar” will reach 100%, right?

1 Like

Approximately. Probably a few rounds before.

1 Like

What will happen when it reaches 100%? Will humans descend upon the planet?

You’ll see, when the time comes.

Well good to know it won’t be the end of the FG atleast…

Mutation Uno: Longer neck (idk how long you count one of these but ig the neck is slightly outwards?)

Mutation dos: Conical teeth to just sheer plant matter and ingest it without bothering with chewing spending less time processing it in the mouth and instead letting the stomach process it all.

Btw wouldn’t there be accidents where the eggs of the false salamander be eaten cause it’s placed on plants and adults and young of other herbivores would probably eat them either by mistake or extra nutrient intake. (Oh and also they shift from semi erect to erect if I can still do that?)

M1: The Lower, “Herbivore” digestive system develops fermentation
M2: The Mouth of the lower system develops grinding teeth suited for consuming vegetation

AnthropocenianAge, to just to warn you, if you don’t increase your food supply soon (via spreading to new patches or predation), you may be wiped out. Just a warning.

1 Like

Btw cat^2, do you already have the entire map planned out or just add random new patches when the creatures’ range increases?

1 Like

Niche partitioning happening here lol
Sheering vs grinding plant matter

I have some patches planed out. Basically all the patches within two patches of an inhabited patch, so only the ones that could potentially be seen next round.
