If someone has a good/fast PC, would they even notice the loading screen story amongst the various tips and clues of loading screens?

Try playing generation 20 and see how long auto-evo takes.

Even on my computer that starts to take dozens of seconds.

Do you play with autoevo active during the gameplay or only after player has pressed the editor button?

Did you mean to link β€œBeginning Concepts on The Multicellular Stage” twice?

It does seem to link to 2 different messages there, but the microbe wrap-up thread in the dev forum got some activity too, so it can be rather certainly said that it was supposed to be linked and not the first message posted this week in the multicellular outline thread.
…By the way, was the bug where the central cell sometimes receives damage for blows against the outer cells fixed yet?

@Deus added the forum links to the post.

Should we eventually credit who actually wrote a PU in them (like at the very end of a PU) or will that never be necessary?

If progress like this keep up, it might be possible that 0.8.3.0 releases earlier than the intended deadline.

It would be better if the original 0.8.3.0 release date became the 0.9.0.0 release date, though that will depend on a few things, like the the 2 auto-evo roadmap issues no one has touched yet, and whether or not the Planet Customization, which is at least being worked on, gets finished in time.

There is also the "β€œPatch Terrain Generation and Differentiation” issue, but the Dev’s have pushed an issue or two into the next set of goals before.

Didn’t the Thrive devs already state that they will need 0.8.4.0 to finish the 0.8.X.X stuff? Or has that plan changed?

I pasted a picture so everyone can see the comments, since it is a post from the Lounge.

If β€œ0.8.4” completes all remaining issues for the 0.8.X era, pretty sure it will be titled β€œ0.9.0” then.

This is exactly why I don’t see any way for the next release to be 0.9.0.

Also, once we move on to multicellular development, how will we decide when to move to a next 1.X.0 version during the initial phases of that stage’s development for which roadmap is not strictly planned iirc?

β€œIncreased max zoom out distance when playing as a large cell colony”
That is, how many cells?

It dynamically scales based on the body plan you make in the editor (up to a max limit).

Just how much larger is the max limit than what we could’ve seen up to this change?

You’ll need to become a patron to find out or ask a patron to get comparisons. A patron on our community Discord already praised the new zoom out limit as a great improvement.

Very neat! That should make big colonies a lot more fun to play, since you can actually still see what’s around you!

I’ve actually thought about the opposite sometimes: It’s a shame that the default max zoom is so wide out that you can barely see the structure of cells. Because since zooming all the way out as far as possible is optimal gameplay, that feels like people are missing a lot of the graphical experience.
