Progress Updates

I personally liked Passive Reproduction, it made the game more challenging and gave me a reason to evolve parts that otherwise seemed unnecessary. Clearly I am in the minority of thinking that way. Oh well.

I mean, it made it MUCH harder to play as a sessile organism

Same with me. I kind of feel like Passive Reproduction actually reinforces sessile behavior. Even when not playing as a Plant, I sometimes find myself not moving too much, since it is better to conserve resources by staying in place and waiting for Passive Reproduction progress.

But also with Passive Reproduction, happy sessile organism noises.

Maybe let’s make a poll on this then?

Would you want to keep the option to have passive reproduction turned OFF? (Base your decision going off the maintainace needed for that OFF mode going forwads)

We should have a poll for this too:

Do you want to keep the option to have organelle unlocks turned off?
  • Yes
  • No

You should probably make the poll private

But why would I want to do that?

It gives the voters more privacy

But it says I can’t change a poll after five minutes. I tried removing the poll and making a new one but that also did not work.

Maybe make it in a new post?

  • Cell membrane type is now uniform across all cell types in a Multicellular species.

R.I.P. multiple membrane type organisms. You had a good run.

The membrane type can still be changed all at once for 100 MP.

Guess I will stick to playing with Custom Difficulty where my MP multiplier still allows changing of membranes and changing other things in the cells.

It is a step towards realism afterall ,maybe we should celebrate this?

This is actually unaffected by MP multiplier at always costs all of your MP (and ends the editor session immediately).

So in effect, it is cheaper to change membrane types in Microbe first before going to Multicellular.

I think that makes logical sense aswell

Why would changing membrane type in Multicellular end the editor session immediately? When zero MP is reached in Microbe, Players should still be able to change Behavior sliders, Cell membrane color, move and migrate to different Biomes, or even undo all changes in the Cell Editor without the editor session ending. Is this it to avoid zero MP bugs?

Probably as you said. Also can’t you do all that before changing the membrane type?

The action if changing membrane in all cell types at once does not fit into the existing editor action system, so implementing it that way would have been extremely difficult.

So instead the way I implemented it is that upon accepting the change the editor remembers that it should swap the membrane and then it triggers the normal editor exit. Once exited then it remembers to directly modify the species to swap the membrane. So it bypasses all the usual editor functionality to directly edit the species. This is why the only easy way to implement the feature was to force exit the editor upon doing it.

Is endosymbiosis being faster in multicellular exactly realistic, or is it out of convenience?
