Progress Updates

It is said the actomyosin animation plays while the organism is moving, does this mean they just retract until you stop or cycle between retracting and extending themselves while you’re moving?

Any chance that Multicellular auto evo initial - #7078 will be finished in time for the upcoming 1.6/1.7 release? While there are several things I hope to see added in the next few months, that is certainly the biggest missing piece, and I think it will do a lot of good for reviews and sales.

There is a “first version” implementation that seems to have no more ongoing know bugs. We’ll have to see if everyone agrees that it is good enough to go into the live game.

Well. We’ll have to decide that today or tomorrow. I’ll try to get through all of my review backlog (and my open PRs) today.

Will the autoevo initial take care of multi autoevo all together or will there still be much to improve in this field?

Still very much left to improve.

Btw do you guys know if there is 1 or 2 more major releases left this year?

Looking at the calendar, probably 2. Or maybe 3 if we want to push out a release early to get some extra polishing in.

So something similar with how the 0.9.Xs were like?

I still feel like some multicellular loading screens better fit in macroscopic…

Cells that are reasonably close, but not touching, will have their membranes stretch out to meet, bridging the gap. This makes bodies look more cohesive, and will hopefully reduce the cases of microbes getting stuck inside you.

A really good change! It is funny when a non-aggressive Prokaryote gets stuck between a Player’s cells. It is not funny when a spiky, toxic Prokaryote gets stuck between a Player’s cells.

Also, the “time per generation” has been changed from 100 to 50 million years, as after some discussion it was determined that it seems more realistic (when looking specifically at how long the average player takes to get to the Macroscopic Stage).

Will this new time change be the same for Macroscopic, or could it be an even shorter timeframe?

I think you could still make it stuck if it happened to be between cells right as one grew and locked the prokaryote in place…

You’re probably right, and the same goes for some current macroscopic ones fitting better in Multicellular, but I wanted to balance it with how many are currently available for each.

Which ones do you feel the most strongly about?

Macroscopic would definitely still be shorter.

Quite probably still, yes. But I think at least ones coming from outside into already grown cells should be mostly gone now.

I feel like the “Multicellular Scene” especially rather fits macro

i have a question, 1.6.0 added basically everything to the multicellular stage, i cant think of more things to add there (except for complete auto-evo), so what will the update(s) before 2027 even add?

There’s still some roadmap items not in 1.6 that’d be nice to add
