Quick Question Thread

Improve the current planet customization system

  • Adding a planet stats panel
  • Adding new options as discussed on โ€œThe Planet Editorโ€ thread, such as compounds abundance and variation and maybe hazyness if I find it useful
  • Improving current options - for example temparature slider actually affecting the temperature of the surface patches and adding more options to the sea coverage dropdown - ocean-only and continents-only option (that would also disable some starting locations if selected)
  • Maybe adding some predefined planet scenarios for replayability?

Would that be like that one โ€œdry worldโ€ option from that one extensive mod which made all patches tidepools or something?

Not sure, quoted it from the post. Personally, I am curious about โ€œPlanet Stat Panelโ€ and โ€œpredefined planet scenariosโ€.

I recall in some PU we already have got some icons for such presetsโ€ฆ

Are there plans to eventually add Mucus as an energy source into the game? Mucophagy is a real thing,

I think someone suggested back during the adding process of mucilage that it should be consumable by other organisms and turnable into glucose but that didnโ€™t go throughโ€ฆ

Is it just me or have a lot of New Forks on the Development Feed list been Page Not Found recently?

Could you give an example? For me the github feed has been working fine.

The most recent one does not link back to GitHub.

Indeed, when clicking those it shows me the same page as for you.

It seems like the relative URLs are not handled correctly. The base URL of those should be โ€œgithub.com/โ€ and not the forums, then I assume the links would work correctly.

The problem is most likely somewhere in this code:

caused by it not resolving relative links before the data is forwarded. Once it reaches the forums then all relative links that are still left will be wrong.

I donโ€™t have very high hopes that this will be fixed as Iโ€™ve found it basically impossible to get anyone to help me with developing the DevCenter, and Iโ€™ve had no energy myself to work on the DevCenter the past multiple months.

So we should expect the links to stay broken for the time being?

When did the forums allow one to click on colored post โ€œtitlesโ€ that are not links? I noticed this when hovering next to the lime colored post โ€œtitlesโ€ on my Intermediates FG. I put โ€œtitlesโ€ in quotes, since it only seems to happen when a colored post title uses the hashes (###), and not when it is only colored or bold.

Since this isnโ€™t an usually used feature probably the best way to find out is to look at the discourse patch notesโ€ฆ

Is it just me, or has the forum been REALLY lagging for a day or two now?

Yeah, was about to comment on that. Itโ€™s been very slow to me when compared with what it was like previously.

Same with me. Should there be a notice displayed on the forums when there is heavy lag on the system (if there isnโ€™t one already)?

Same, I thought it was just me because I recently switched from chrome to firefox.

I think I recently briefly saw something saying along the lines of โ€œthis is here because of heavy trafficโ€ above the latest post page.
