Quick Question Thread

You just press the “fork” button on the GitHub website.

Here’s a full guide I recommend reading about working with forks:

I can’t create a fork because I already have another fork for another PR

A fork is a full duplicated repository, you are meant to have just one of those per upstream repository. Instead you should make unique branches in your fork for each change you want to make. You can open a pull request from a specific branch.

So put simply: you are supposed to have just 1 fork but create many branches in it for multiple things you want to do.

@hhyyrylainen
I made a PR to increase the rotation speed of multicellular organisms.
And yes, I tested it.

I don’t think you needed to clarify what it is more?

Will Bioluminescence be expanded for Multicellular, or it is planned to be more of an important role in Macroscopic?

No settled plans for bioluminescence yet, but for more advanced mechanics, I would expect that to no come before macroscopic. The low-level mechanics of Multicellular will stay quite close to the Microbe Stage.

It is said “powerful abilities” are to be unlocked in the second stage though…

I guess crashing one’s computer from the sheer number of cells might be an unintended powerful ability.

I meant more as in ingame abilities

How many releases are planned for Multicellular? At least from the Thrive game Steam discussions page, there seems to be some more generated interest in the next stage of the game.

I think there would be 6-8 releases overall, perhaps more if versions similar to 0.9.1/2 get released near the end

How will early biological adaptations influence the development of civilization? What if we created an intelligent plant? What if it's endemic? What if it's an intelligent organism that feeds on hydrogen sulfide and iron?

Welcome to the forums Gnome!

Please write your comments normally, putting them in a scrolling box like this makes them more difficult to read.

The hope is that the biology of your species will matter quite a bit for the later stages. For example, agriculture should be quite different for a species that is a pure carnivore.

By the way, why would anyone make sentient plants artificially? Do they even have a proper purpose in such a form? Could they just be like some sort of a bizarre pet?

Which non-LAWK features are expected to come in Thrive for next stages? I imagine faster-than-light technology is one of them and a potential one to affect the progress of the game.

I think that isn’t non-lawk but some different differenciation since lawk is for living things

Are we gonna have a toggle for TAWK (Tech As We Know It)?

I think the RuBisCo/Glucose Phosphatase Organelle is Non-Lawk, but it was postponed indefinitely.

My understanding it “It is easier to set AI not to research TAWDK (D is for Don’t) unless the player has researched it first, and include a warning ‘Researching this will allow Scifi Tech’”

Also, Welcome to the Forum, @Gnome
