Quick Question Thread

I would say auto-evo triggers one species saying β€œI am becoming multicellular” but then instead of that happening immediately, it is delayed for several turns.

And when it does happen only then it gameovers the player.

Would hard still have some turns left before this happens or would it happen immediately?

Hopefully, one more good reason to play Easy Difficulty.

Aren’t you supposed to move on to normal at some point?

I wonder if there will eventually be a feature of being able to change difficulty after starting a playthrough?

I think that would require some serious coding effort for all the variables to change mid-game

If this were to be implemented it would be funny if the species went extinct before actually getting multicellular.

Maybe it’d be given a miche to exactly not go extinct like what happens with endosymbiosis subjects

So a Multicellular miche in Microbe?

I suppose that’s how it could be called

Will symmetry still be changeable in the Multicellular, or will it be locked based on the symmetry chosen in Microbe?

I think you can already choose/change your symmetry there in a way?

There’s currently no set plan to lock symmetry at all. I’ve only made some suggestions in that direction.

But if there were to be one, microbe symmetry would not affect Multicellular symmetry, I see no biological reason to do so. Symmetry selection (if it’s a thing) in Multicellular could affect it in Macroscopic.

This would probably be a nightmare to implement if I understand it correctly
Would it check of cell layouts that make the macroscopic creature radial, bilateral or asymetric?

How long will OpenGL Mode be supported by the devs?

Probably as long as there are users (that we know of) with devices which cannot support vulcan

Or a bit longer if we account for those who do not interact with us

I don’t know if I will be able to get a computer with a dedicated graphics card, so that is why I am asking.

I am trying to remember, a dedicated graphics card is not essential to play Thrive, right?

As long as the Godot Engine supports it (and doesn’t require unreasonable effort from us to keep it working).

modern integrated graphics cards all support vulkan. If you’re buying anything from the last 5 years you’re more than good.

How much longer do you bet will opengl be supported?
