Round 23 - 18:00, April 30th, 2000
Round Prologue
The Organism
TO evolved neurons which make it capable to bake sweets like doughnuts, albeit at the moment it doesn’t really have means to bake this kind of food (+50 ME).
TO also evolved tastebuds to better taste these doughnuts (+50 ME, +50 MH, @Evolution4Weak please submit a minor mutation related to taste sense). The neurons, both regular and evolving, are now capable of being powered by a cell in which they reside (+100 ME). The Scout caste can now reproduce, but it’s not enough to create new colonies (+25 MH, +25 S). Tumors had to be removed (-50 H). The exoskeleton can now change it’s color to a degree (+25 MH, +25 S). The ant is even smarter now (+100 ME).
TO again tried to dig underground, and again it failed (-50 H). The ant would then turn it’s resources into energy (100 R → 300 E). After that scouts were sent to Matiguas, where they established a strong outpost, albeit with their hindered reproductive abilities they cannot form a proper colony. They established this outpost in a place which doesn’t directly hurt humans, and have collected some food for TO (+150 R). Thru these scouts the ant tried to communicate with the local government, however nothing came out of it. Some people however were willing to give scraps to the scout ants (+75 R). After that TO build many traps around the tower, including deadly webs, in which soon enough many birds were caught (+125 R). Resource inflow has been increased thanks to the children of TO not having to worry about being seen by humans anymore (R per round increased to 1.25 X Size multiplier).
HUMAN INTERACTION
(Rolled 3/6, a team of 24 People)
With the scout outpost in Matiguas, more people are willing to come to the ant’s nest, especially as national researchers are rumoured to arrive very soon. These people spoke to TO, the zombie and the diplomats (this time not being frightened by them so much) like the previous team. They left some food (+125 R), however some of them also came with cages and took a few smaller ants with them (-25 S). TO didn’t see that at first and only noticed the loss of a few smaller ants after these people already left. It looks like soon more serious people will come to this hive…

Considering the development of this FG towards a mutant ant-controlled underground state slowly taking over humanity, I was wondering if this FG should stay in this form or change into being more focused on this growing aspect which will likely end up taking most if not all of your actions.

Round 24 - 0:00, May 1st, 2000
Round Prologue
With the beginning of a new month, TO has been quite lucky, and managed to establish some basic diplomatic relations with the government of Nicaragua…
The Organism
TO’s tastebuds are even better at detecting sugar (+25 MH, +25 ME).
TO is now slightly larger, at around 5 meters. With this however seems to come another beneficial mutation to the body as a whole, making it stronger (-200 R, +200 MH, +200 S). The ant also developed another interesting mutation - it’s able to compile all the mutations it got up to this point into a list which for some reason has to be transported in a safe container (+100 MH, +100 S). The scout caste which previous developed a rather poorly-functioning reproductive system now has a completely operational one, allowing it to create colonies (+50 MH, +50 S). Another caste was developed, this time being a larger worker designed to carry heavy loads (+100 MH, +100 S). TO is also a lot faster now (+200 S). The armour of the ant and it’s children has also been improved (+100 MH).
TO tried digging down, eventually finding rocks thru which it could not dig. It however managed to find many bulbs which it ate (+75 R). After that TO studied it’s own biology and gained insight into it’s own metabolism, allowing the ant to better control the energy usage (+(1/4 Size Multiplier) E / Round). The improved scouts were sent to the outpost, strenghtening it a lot, in effect turning it into a full-blown colony which started to send back excess resources (+75 S, +150 R).
HUMAN INTERACTION
While at night no locals tried getting to the ant, this night it was seemingly because of the arrival of the official researchers. After entering the nest of TO, they noticed the diplomats, the zombie and then the ant.
The researchers took notes as the ant was now speaking fluent spanish to them, despite not even being a vertebrate.
In the end these researchers and TO made an aggrement, which de facto opened up diplomatic channels between the nest and the Nicaraguan government, as if TO’s realm was an independent political entity.
After the researchers left the area, the hive hidden inside the forest made some celebrations of this event, giving TO some food ( +125 R). However when the ant was eating the said food a branch fell on it (-50 H). This event may’ve given TO an idea as very soon after that it proposed improvements to the various systems operating in the nest’s area ((+(1.25 X Size Multiplier) R per Round), Improved metal processing system).
