the first point is obvious. The idea that’s what “woke” is… Well, I guess it is nowadays… Back in the day, woke meant something. And the ideals behind it are good, but the only people left using the term are haters, if you talk to the people the companies copy and the haters hate, they hate the companies! No one likes it, but it sells, because the normal people who don’t hate everything see it and think “eh, probably better than the alternative, and an ad’s an ad”.

It’s obviously bc we were young, I mean, people have always been like this. But, at that point in time, there was less hate, because most of the ideals had only been around a bit. But, it’s been near 30 years of modern liberalism, and a decade of modern right populism. And there was an insurrection. And the internet throws everyone in the middle of everything.

Maybe. It’s kinda possible the forum takes a stance. For example, if it were to say “obviously [word that starts with n and ends in azi]'s are bad” that’s apolitical. If i said “species that don’t care for one another cannot progress to awakening, so empathy is good” that’s also apolitical. It’s possible to lock in against something obviously wrong. It could be illegal to talk about politics, but the fact that “X is bad and stuff” could be allowed, as it’s apolitical if you aren’t a [word I already mentioned].

We are not even sure if the forum community could take the change of allowing politics without a significant part of the users abandoning the forum.

This doesn’t look just like “homeless proofing”, it looks like “everyone proofing”

I’m willing to bet had the forum allowed political discussions, one would’ve sprouted right here.

I mean… this is a political statement that was made, but everyone agreed. No argument, no “politics.” Yay?

And perhaps for times further and wider than just a singlet day…

If everyone agrees, it wouldn’t be removed. But also, it wouldn’t be fun, so there’s no reason to say it in the first place. Validation is boring.

As per the rules, all and any political discussions should be removed, but it’s been seen many times now that the rules don’t always come into play…

Scalping GPUs should be made illegal everywhere. Honestly, it’s not even hard to prevent some of the scalping. Putting a CAPTCHA should deter at least the laziest scalpers who don’t make proper AI bots instead of just bots. Putting a limit of 1 GPU per credit card per week should also help. Are store owners lazy or something?

Will this finally be the nail to shatter the bubble?

I wish… not likely. I think the economy is just going to drag down for a while, but that’s just my ppersonal prediction. The main reason I think the bubble won’t shadder is just because OpenAI is basically shown as failures with nothing behind the eyes, every other company naming stuff the "Product we already had WITH AI"has no reason to stop. Nvidia in particular has a lot of reason to sell AI cards to people wanting to fine-tune the censorship out of deepseek (I ran one of the largest models that would fit in my moderate 64 gigs of ram and tricked it into explaining the Tiananmen Square Massacre, the censorship is nothing, the risk of using it is that many will just use the app deepseek made, which is hosted on the other side of a firewall to my knowledge), and Nvidia especially needs DLSS to sell GPUs because they forgot how to do innovation, and there’s no reason to stop calling DLSS AI. AI is gonna stick around, but hopefully it’ll stop growing, and hopefully soon venture capital firms will start wondering why they have to invest in western companies asking for trillions rather than eastern companies asking for a few million, and the tide will turn on newer, bigger, mega LLMs.

Scalping should be illegal. Period. Arbitrage to bring the prices of two disconnected economies in line makes sense, but when demand simply outpaces supply and you are adding no value to the economy (just making consumers suffer), you shouldn’t get to. However, who do you think pays off our lawmakers? The multimillionaires and billionaires who play jump rope with the fine line between arbitrage and scalping. The real villains here are people who scalp during disasters, like LA landords.

So the bubble is adapting if not evolving… interesting.
