Random Video Posting

I guess it was a reenactment of the assassination of tsar Nicholas II and his family, followed by a church service dedicated to them? At least that’s what I got from what I could understand alongside what I had witnessed.

We sure that sort of violence in a video is allowed in this realm?

While I don’t recall an explicit prohibition, there is the general agreement that the forum should be kept ~13+. I’m not sure wether this video brakes this agreement, since it was clearly broadcast on national tv, but I guess the safest option would be to refrain from posting such drastic clips in the future, or at least blur them in case of drastic thumbnails and warn about their contents in the post.

Yeah. That’s an another lesson for us, the forumfolk, to learn…

How difficult would it be to make that an official forum rule? I don’t think it would be necessary at this point, but depending on how the population of the forum changes with the release of 1.0.0.0 and beyond, additional forum rules may need to be enforced/changed, accordingly.

Pretty sure it IS an actual rule, considering Yuyi was banned for being below that age.

I mean it basically already is a rule, as users known to be under 13 get suspended until it can be certain that they’re 13 or older, but that’s on me for using unclear terminology when I meant “~pg13”.

Okay, so assuming you also had “~pg13” in mind, I’m not exactly certain as to how difficult implementing and enforcing such a rule would be, however I can see reasons for keeping it as a social agreement and a sort of a standard that all users should strive towards. These mainly boil down to the fact that such a hard-coded rule could have many unintended negative consequences, such as disruptions in important threads like Making a Line For What Content Not to Include, which by their very nature deal with nsfw topics. But I guess if the rule was instead written as a general suggestion to try to keep topics and posts pg13, then it would cause basically no issues, as it would just be putting the status quo in this matter on paper (…or post in this case?).
ahhhh this is starting to feel more and more like a conversation that’s gonna get moved…

Yeah, that will happen sometimes. Honestly it’s okay if it stays or get’s moved, it’ll be ok.

Pretty sure the idea is that the TOS doesn’t ban people between 13 and 17 so the forum HAS to be friendly to them since the optics/legality/morality of showing adult things to minors is atrocious. Plus, we want younger fans. The game itself will likely never be rated, and as such it is up to the discretion of players and their parents for whether they should play the game itself, but the online space we have here is open to everyone so…

Plus, we ban political discussions, so, combine the two, pretty represive overall atmosphere, which works, it’s not like thrive requires politics or adult content to function, and imo the general vibe of repressiveness helps a LOT in keeping everything sane even if I think the rules can kinda be a bit silly, if i say a curse word no one is gonna die, but if everyone feels welcome t say them, someone is gonna wind up saying something real bad because there is a big difference between “Belgium! Didn’t like how xyz turned out!” and “You’re evil and a Belgium and xyz!” and many people cannot see the difference because rules that allow cursing allow both (the latter would be removed for meanness or harassment, the perpetrator could feel like the content of the message was fine and they were punished for some alternate motivator). I think the rules make sense, but I have always wondered if this place will ever have some sort of a less restricted section. I’m unsure of the Finish laws, but I think making a little 18+ zone would be possible. I don’t think it’s needed, but at some point I think it might make sense. Maybe. For now of course, a vague “keep the vibes appropriate for 13 YOs” rule works fine, and the reassurance that 9 YOs can be kicked off makes total sense and seems to be doing okay.

Apparently YouTube thinks that video is fine for general audiences as age restricted videos on YouTube refuse to play when embedded on other websites. Still I would appreciate if the users here would be considerate enough to not post random videos with large amounts of violence. Or at least put a content warning before the video so others could decide if they want to play the video or not.

Only after developers don’t have to stay on the schedule all the time for the game not to die long term they might find the time to create such a section, as otherwise there might not be enough demand for it when compared with developing the game further…
