How many women can’t lactate? Really not all that many. Yes, they are significant, they matter, but they aren’t matched with the 75% of babies that consume formula by 6 months. Obviously, feeding a baby from your own body isn’t a walk in the park, but swaths of american culture are based around making it weird to try, largely because the victorian age, on this side of the atlantic, was dominated by corporate greed, and we exited that right into a world where it was profitable to discourage such things. I’m not against formula or anything, but it’s prevalence is artificial.

Really, it’s a question of degree. Nestle commits actual acts of terror, Facebook is trying to rip apart your privacy, HP passively supports loads of messed up stuff, Lego costs an annoying amount and has too many brand deals, Valve is actively fostering an open source future of Linux and challenging stagnant industries.

Honestly I feel little empathy with the poor suckers who aren’t satisfied with the 1400$ GPUs they already have. If I had a 4k monitor and a desire to play more AAA I’d kill for a 3090 or a 4080 or 7900 xtx and have no clue what I’d do with a 5090 or even a 4090. 5090 has 32 GB of vram ig, but honestly two 4060 16 GBs has to be more cost effective for AI or whatever.

I would consider getting a 5090 if I was much more interested in AI and/or the price was much more reasonable (and of course if there were any cards actually available to buy).
