You can make mucus layer if you want to have a stomach acid more acidic than your cells can survive in.

I advise you design your creature as an animal, but have a photosynthetic tissue saved in the editor, then apply the photosynthesising tissue an the organism with the digestive tract. Make sure to perfect the digestive tract before you apply the tissue, as it is very hard to edit afterwards.
