Survival in the Forum

what abt if someone made a construct-caste(as in a caste that is a construct) that’s designed specifically to hold up hexagonal portions of post substrate and use the heat from the substrate, or some energy collectors, to provide itself with enough energy to stay alive and stay at the same level?

The level at which most post-bedrock lies is frigid cold, so little to no energy will be acquired via thermosynthesis here. The amount of energe needed to keep so much soil up would need to be immense for such a strange goal…

Round 54 - Year 4, Month 8

The attitudes of the users within the forum are changing, as increasingly more people have joined the “Prosper First” group, with some moderators also showing support for it, whereas “The Splitters” group is still as large as when it first emerged. The Research Community decided to become more neutral when it comes to the creatures of the forum in order to appease the ones for whom Prosper takes the first place in the forum. These new trends don’t mean anything good for the critters…

All species lose 2 UU.

With the arrival of the outsider beings and the strenghtening of Darkblur’s (and the pressure being exerted by “Prosper First” members), the RC annouced that the era of The Covenant dominance has come to an end, and now a new confrontation has begun…

Non-Species Entities

Outsider Group

STARGUN STATUS:
-?? HP
-Suspected to have 2 abilities (needs more research)
-Looks like a rifle-like gun installed ontop of a starfish-like being
-Appears to have been created from two different entities

STUMPSPAWN STATUS:
-?? HP
-Suspected to have 2 abilities (needs more research)
-Looks somewhat like a stump, with 4 large legs used for walking and 4 smaller, more upward-facing “roots” between the legs, and a bark-like texture. The top of the being is occupied by a large strusture which looks like a closed flower the color of a pink rose
-Appears to have been created from two different entities

SHARPWING STATUS:
-?? HP
-Suspected to have 2 abilities (needs more research)
-The main body appears to have lots of sharp, spear-like appendages at the bottom and on the sides, at the top there are two pairs of wings attatched to a bulge running the length of the entity. Always flying.
-Appears to have been created from two different entities

SPADEBUG STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like some sort of a beetle, the tips of it’s legs are tipped with sharp spearheads through

SANITIZER STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like a blob with 8 octopus-like tentacles, which in themselves have hollow cones at their ends, opening up from the side of their bases.

SERPHANT STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like a fiery snake with 3 pairs of insect-like wings at the top of it’s body which allow it to fly somewhat

SHIELDSWORD STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like a shield-shaped hybrid of an isopod and a tortoise, possessing two large “blades” in the narrow section of the shield which have a surprisingly large degree of movement and rotation.

SONAR STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like a tripod table, but instead of the table surface there’s a sphere at the top of the “torso”

SPEEDER STATUS:
-? HP
-Suspected to have a single ability (needs more research)
-Looks like a very thin spider or even a harvestman, known to be able to reach quite the impressive velocities.

The refugees from the different forums have arrived in the land they have dreamt about ever since their creation under the form of singular entities. It seems like 6 of these entities formed pairs and fused into 3 while on their way there, reducing the total amount of visitors from 12 to 9. They all appeared close to eachother and quickly formed a band, which currently is exploring the forum wilderness. Users were quick to notice and name them, but it appears that the newcomers don’t wish to share the secrets about the abilities they have. It’s also no mystery to the covenant leadership that soon enough they will start looking for the one whom has harmed them back in their now-desolate forums a couple of months ago - The Devourer…

Mistdom Group

MISTORB STATUS:

-??? HP
-Cannot do much itself in this form, especially as Deus now controls it nearly completely
-The Mistorb Vault built around it serves as a container and a barrier
-Located in the Mistvault PM, alongside the M. Cat-Bestiae Populace and The Laboratory
(ABSORBED BY DARKBLUR, STATUS TO BE REMOVED)

DARKBLUR STATUS:

-60/50 HP (Regenerates 5 HP per Month[Round])
-Insanely fast, can scale hundreds of posts in seconds
-Looks like a disturbing pseudo-humanoid figure within a “dark bubble”
-One known offensive ability - “Hypnosis” (can convert weaker-minded entities to it’s side)
-Suspected to have attained more abilities following it’s absorption of The Mistorb, only time will tell what they are…
-By far the most powerful member of The Mistdom, EVER
-Fused with the soul of a rather obsessed, insane mistdom-aligned user
-Has some users on it’s command (unknown to other community members)
-Has two action votes it casts every Month(Round)

Action 1: Have the obedient ones find the Mistorb PM (4/6)
Action 2: Raid the PM (6/6)

Following it’s evasion of Deuses puny attempts at containing it, the blur would again ask it’s “vassal users” to search far and wide for a link which would lead to the fabled ground where the mistorb truly is contained. This time around however, after a few days the fiefs of this entity did return with a link to the site. Darkblur didn’t have second thoughts - it used the link straight away.
Within it’s first second in the secret PM, it has already found it’s master, Mistorb, surrounded by the partially damaged Mistvault, with an opening ontop where the injector was used some time ago to reinforce the vassalization spirit. Before any critter in the thread could react to this unwelcome guest, it casted a strange field a couple of posts wide around itself, also containing the Mistorb and the Mistvault within. Right after the field stopped expanding, reaching it’s maximum size, the blur emitted some sort of a shockwave which seemingly caused the orb to rupture. As the creatures finally took notice, a powerful explosion occured in the place where the mistvault used to be, ripping it apart into tiny pieces which would kill creatures all around the thread, as a new shockwave apparently originating from the dark orb started expanding even faster than darkblur’s highest speed at first, but then it hit a wall - the clading barrier the strange field emitted by the blur is. Now all across the field strange dark shapes started to materialize out of thin air, some looking more like the critters and others staying as unrecognizable blobs of matter. Their existence wouldn’t last long however - the blur sent it’s third and last shockwave, which caused the clading wall preventing the spread of this “dark entity field” to start collapsing inwards, like a dying star, into the blur. The entities within the field seemingly understood what is happening, as they tried to leap and tear into Darkblur - but instead of damaging it, they got absorbed into the entity, caused the darkening around the figure inside to become pitch black. As the collapsing clad moved closer to darkblur, the interior of the field started to be completely filled by the dark mass making up the shadowy beings. After a few seconds, the shrinking has ended as the field emitted by the blur retracted back to the position from which it was emitted. The blur was now ready to move on - it exitted the PM before any critter could harm it. Following this event, Darkblur’s darkening would fade away to a much less opaque form than before the absorption, revealling the figure within to it’s full extent…

Species

NPC - Sapiepoda TeaKinges, “The Crawler” - HO

  • Medium Omnivore

Mutations: Cameras and Film X 2 (+2 Stealth), Footage Sharing (+1 UU)
DM: Processor Improvements (+1 Stealth to ALL covenant species)

S. TeaKinges top warriors have found an issue with the ways the rising stars of the species grow in potential and power: with memories of practical events mostly lasting in form of text, it’s hard to represent important data to those young warriors in forms which aren’t similar to lecturing. As so, some of the more research-oriented individuals of the crawling kin were assembled together to construct first cameras and filmtape within the forum. Basing off the knowledge shared by the users, it’d require sifting through the forum soil to find the necesarry elements required for crafting both these advanced, industrial even pieces of equipment. Over some 20 days of research, mostly by trial and error, production of footage went from 0 to an amount which sustains the “fighting education” of the new generations within the Sapiepoda society. But this isn’t the only benefit coming from the advent of these technologies by the forum critters - the footage has been designed to be screened on large surfaces, allowing users who happen to be recording at the same time either via software or an another device to view the forum from a first person perspective - this would end up making the TeaKinges kin gain lots of positive feedback from the user community!
Deus meanwhile had this species upgrade the robot processors to new heights, alongside the fearsome but still friendly allies of the Darren Brethen. Those two species of the both Multipoda-diverged lineages worked hand in hand constructing new processors which would end up making robot reports be of a superior quality!

@doomlightning - Neodichorisare Cogitandi, “Divider” - HO

  • Small Herbivore

Mutations: Better Distribution (+1 Strenght), Superior Dexterity (+1 Speed), GEM Posts (+1 UU)
DM: Help Wallcrab Research

Nd. Cogitandi noted over their many years of stay in the forum as sapients that badly distributed materials quite commonly ended up being wasted. Over years this accumulated huge loses to the species, and eventually the divider leadership had to take this matter into their limbs. They would thoroughly reform the resource distribution system the Neodichorisarid kin has had in place for many months now into a superior system which will save lots of materials in the long term, leading to the species becoming stronger as an entirety. This isn’t the only thing to occur to this species yet, as the truly holy metal also allowed a higher level of dexterity to be reached, making this species considerably faster. Lastly this month, as a proof of their high strenght the dividerlings decided to have some empty, unused posts covered with the metal of glory, which would soon enough attract the users of the forum to admire the huge amount of GEM used to create these gilded posts.
At the same time as they were staring at those prized posts, the god of the highest mages ordered the divider scientists to go and help the wallcrab kin in it’s experiments beyond the forum. And what both species discovered with that experiment would be rather scary…

@CatSquared - Multipoda Cat-Bestiae, “Cat Beasts” - ID-

  • Tiny Omnivore

Mutations: Crabcult Species (3/6, +1 Strenght), Outside-The-Forum Outpost, Devourer Power (+1 Strenght)
DM: Species Generation (3/6)

The Devourer has been interested in getting a species completely dedicated to worship for a while - while the base M. Cat-Bestiae species already fills in this role somewhat, it might be wise to keep it around for later use. As so this entities’ eyes instead wandered off to the group of wallcrab cultists it’s been upkeeping in order to maintain it’s status of a “minor god” per the wallcrab god categorization regules, which comes with extra might. Thankfully, Deus assigned a group of creature researchers to modify the old clone-making technology into technology which would creature fully functional species. Albeit not perfect, the result of the work of this team has produced a tool fully capable of creating new species. As so it was used on the group of wallcrabs, which over a day or two split off into a new species - the fastest species split to occur yet in the forum! Following this achievement, The Devourer looked onto the forums beyond the homeforum, which could offer new lands to host new cultists and whatnot. A brand-new group of Devourer Spirits was sent to these forums to establish outposts across them, but just as they were trying to figure out where to build these structures, they felt that the conditions of the website they were in started to worsen rapidly. Within minutes the different forums’ conditions turned to such which were no different from those of other websites, with the devourer spirits being slowly chipped away by the still-awakening hostile environment. In order to compensate for this failure, The Devourer had itself modified by it’s obedient cultists, which found a few shticks that would make more power be seized from souls in the process of consumption.

Darkblur’s raid on the Mistvault PM caused many chunks from the Mistvault to be thrown all around the PM, which caused lots of Cat-Beasts and Devourerling Wallcrabs to die. Thankfully, The Devourer didn’t get hit by a single chunk…

NPC - Paucipoda Narrenists, “Darren” - HO

  • Huge Omnivore

Mutations: Warfare God Improvements X 2 (+2 Strenght), Camouflaging (+1 Stealth)
DM: Processors Aid

M. Narrenists have left behind the God of Warfare recently in favour of new technologies or internal organization, but that has come to an end now - the representative god of the darrenlings finally received the much-needed attention from the researchers of this kin, now being able to do stuff like launch the latest-generation drones into the air directly from it’s body. This entity is now what all the Narrenists soldiers look up to when it comes to figures they want to follow in the lives of theirs. This change of focus however didn’t prevent any new techniques from being invented this month - some troops have recently started using creative ways which allowed them to stay far more unseen than before, and unsurprisingly the methods quickly spread from army to army, soldier to soldier, troop to troop until all but the dead Paucipodas knew the new ways of keeping themselves hidden from hostile eyes…
Meanwhile as this spread was ongoing, Deus made this species help it’s crawling brethen in their quest for upgrading the robot processors into a superior state which would benefit all the species under the covenant banner. After a few days, the armies sent to manufacture these important new products returned to their home bases, knowing that they caused benefits to all the species in the forum at the present…

@fralegend015 - Fabuloid Spiritusvivi, “Archmage” - HO

  • Small Omnivore

Mutations: Outer-Injector, Forum’s Clad Research, Darkblur Lock (1/6)

Being concerned by the messages sent by the other-forum critters about their homeforums becoming uninhabitable, Deus had the injector upgraded once more, this time it would gain the ability to inject code into websites even beyond the forum. Following this improvement of the injector, the god of archmages would use the lab to see why can things enter the forum, but not exit it. With some input from the MwTC users, it didn’t take long for it to find the answers to it’s questions - the forum’s outer walls aren’t really like walls, they are more like an event horizon which lets everything in - and nothing out. When something has entered the forum, it can’t leave it’s barriers ever again, locked in this realm forever as it seems. Deus would try it’s luck against Darkblur following this revelation, however it appears like the blur is still way too fast to even consider locking a thread just when the blur was inside - it’s just too hard to catch!

The anti-mistworm upgraded itself once again, giving more might and glory to the covenant species, which in themselves now represent all of the forum biota.

Darkblur has raided the Mistvault PM and absorbed The Mistorb, making itself far more powerful and causing Deus to lose it’s sole and only vassal. The Laboratory and The Species endemic to the PM weren’t damaged all that much through…

Some entities have landed on the forum grounds, which appear to be the same beings which formed in the other forums just before leaving them as their forums were about to become inhospitable…

@willow - Cancrorum Venenatorum, “Venomous Wall Crab” - HO

  • Small Herbivore + Parasite

Mutations: New Experiment: Code Protection
DM: Prevent Other-Forum’s Hostilization

C. Venenatorum’s highest command came to the conclusion that the reason why the previous experiment failed was that a special code within the forum which allows it to be habitable permanently wasn’t installed onto the sent souls. As so some wallcrabs were sent to dig through the codebase of the forum, trying to find this piece of code which, as many suspected, would allow the critters to spread beyond. After many hundreds of comparing with other websites’ code, the codepiece was seemingly found - albeit some started to doubt that it was the piece of code behind the high habitability of the forum. Not long after 6 wallcrab souls were assembled and enriched with this piece of code, which as most thought would allow them to create a small safe zone around themselves. Divider researchers were also present there, watching in thrill as the souls were sent one after the other. The critters were waiting for the users present at the designated website to inform if this was the success the scientists strived for… But instead of success, they got informed that just like the previous time, the souls too this time were torn apart rather quickly. Thrill turned into the stages of grief, as creatures and creature-enthusiastic users alike were losing their minds over the new failure. At the same time, an another mission was in place to send the same piece of code into the other forums to keep them around aswell, and it too failed, as the devourer spirits present in these forums succumbed to hostile environments despite being told that the code would save them from their doom. After a week, a conclusion was set: the forum isn’t hospitable due to code, or anything within the forum, but due to something not just beyond it, but seemingly beyond what humans have understood so far about the world and the universe around them…

A group of this species was split off by The Devourer into a cult-oriented species, at the moment they are only living within the safe space the Mistvault PM is…

We’re slowly heading towards the end…

Also this whole round has over 1.5 times the amount of characters the post limit has, so maybe soon enough I’ll have to split rounds into 3 whole posts? :person_shrugging:

what about for holding up a 2 meter thick layer so its surface is at the same height as the surface of the posts?

is it the mist?? is the forum’s cladding protecting us from the mist more than it’s protecting everything else from us?

would a mutation that makes me able to use my mutavenom on any species that i’m possessing (by having the souls make a gland that injects the mutavenom directly into the possessed creature’s blood as it gets made) for as long as i don’t give said species a reason to stop souls from possessing it allow me to manipulate the mutations of each of said species’ without using mutations? or would that require a change to how it works?

You could do that but it’d cut the ties of such a “possessed species” with Deus (since I don’t want too many “control mutations” to exist at once in the same species).

No, the external hostilities are not related to the mist. The mist would suffer the same fate as the souls if it was to go into these websites.

antivirus then? and i have the perfect idea for what to use that on then, especially if it works on individuals. oh and would i be able to use it on deus?

M1: form mutavenom glands in possessed creatures
M2: have all available elementals(that have formed since the water god’s creation, since the others are part of the water god) possess the new creatures and attempt to convert them to follow me

By “the new creatures” you mean the outsiders?

Didn’t you already turn your entire base species into cultists, meaning no thralls remain through?

The cat beasts thralls, not the wall beast thralls
Edit: Wall Crabs, not Wall beasts

Oh I see, so a few have been kept just in case…

If the outside is unhabitable then how did the outsiders survive long enough to evolve? What if I start the Ark Program again?

When are the robots becoming sapient?

What would happen if I were to turn the archmages completely into cyberspace creatures?

Since the injector allows me access to the forum architecture, which I will call base layer, can I modify the way cyberspace works?

I will just say that their forums had some “hidden potential” which was activated when the arks reached them. Now with the potential depleted forever, they are no different from other websites.

An another processor upgrade should make them sapient.

All other species would need to spend a significant part of the resources they gain to upkeep your “cyberspace species” then, perhaps enough to have their population cap lowered, but at the same time your species would then become a lot more secure from attacks.

Will probably require considerable luck with the dice.

What if I use the outer-injector to inject into outside websites code that sends energy from their hardware to Deus? It should be possible since the reason we can’t interact with hardware in the forums is the event horizon, and the code isn’t an organsim so it shouldn’t be affected by the lack of habitability.

What if I transport Deus completely into the base layer?

Can I recreate the event horizon inside the forums?

Not really, when I made the decision to separate hardware from creature access, I meant it for all websites.

There’d be lots more users annoyed by creatures preventing them from using the forum to it’s purpose (since Deus takes up lots of space I can imagine)

Event horizon exists at the edge of the forum, so it’d be rather impossible to create a new one inside the forum as that would require creating a “non-forum” space inside the forum (which is not possible)

what if the cladding was studied and replicated to make a thread be like its own site to everything inside it?
would something like that be able to be used to make a creature that can survive outside the forum? or is it something else that’s protecting the forum from the hostile environment?

I will say that clad is there to prevent there from being a weird border where at first a creature is perfectly fine, but if it strays just a single footstep of it’s too far, it stars to melt away. It’s other purpose is to limit the area of the FG to the prosper forum.

How long does it take to make SitF? As in, how many Hours does it take to make each round?

At this point it takes around 3 hours for one round, through it can vary round to round. Also remember that now there’s a whole bunch of text in the rounds which might not be present in younger/smaller FGs.

@fralegend015 @doomlightning I need your votes.
