Survival in the Forum

Oh so you’re finally going for a 0.5 evo speed increase? Nice.

Round 53 - Year 4, Month 7

MISTORB STATUS:

-??? HP
-Cannot do much itself in this form, especially as Deus now controls it nearly completely
-The Mistorb Vault built around it serves as a container and a barrier
-Located in the Mistvault PM, alongside the M. Cat-Bestiae Populace and The Laboratory

DARKBLUR STATUS:

-15/15 HP (Regenerates 1 HP per Month[Round])
-Insanely fast, can scale hundreds of posts in seconds
-Appears to be a dark sphere with a disturbing, pseudo-humanoid figure inside
-One known offensive ability - “Hypnosis” (can convert weak-minded entities to it’s side)
-The De Facto Leader of The (Compromised) Mistdom at the present
-Fused with the soul of a rather obsessed, insane mistdom-aligned user
-Has some users on it’s command (unknown to other community members)

Action 1: Recruit Vulnerable Users
Action 2: Have those Users find the Mistorb PM (1/6)

Whilist most users of the forum remember the incident which led to the shape the darkblur is in at the present, some of the newcomers or less-active users don’t. Darkblur, fused with a soul of a human itself, has more than enough knowledge to single out the most vulnerable users out of this group, and through forcing them via what has been described as “hypnosis with elements of insanity” by two users who managed to break out of the attempts of the blur (through this didn’t get much traction in the forum, as other users think the two have fabricated the evidence to “look cool”), having them serve it individually - not being able to get to know who is and who is not an another blur-ally, they cannot form stronger communities which could question the being’s orders, being forced by the blur to ignore discussions about what has the mistdom been up to recently and at the same time hide their alignment, not letting others know what they think. Their missions to find a link to the Mistorb PM failed however ended in a total failure, as what remains of MwTC isn’t eager to share their and the covenant’s importantmost secrets to suspicious individuals…

Species

NPC - Sapiepoda TeaKinges, “The Crawler” - HO

  • Medium Omnivore

Mutations: Soul-Reinforced Weapons X 2 (+2 Strenght)
DM: Robot Processors (+1 Stealth to ALL covenant species)

S. TeaKinges specimens have been interested in the new, extremely fast types of robots which started roaming the forum sometime ago, being created by the devourer, the second god to ever arise in the forum. After getting their “hands” on a broken robot of this kind, the crawlers quickly figured out the basics of how the soul-infusion works and how it should be balanced not to end up useless or even dangerous. With the new “soul-reinforcer” profession spreading amongst the crawling population centres, it didn’t take long before the weapons of nearly all prized warriors became infused with the souls. Those tools are now way lighter to carry and also “follow the commands” of their wielder better, more in the flow of the one who’s using them, who is bound to them…
Deus also has been interested in the topic of the machines and the souls, but unlike the Sapiepodas, the god of archmages got interested in boosting the intelligence levels of the robo-souls via physical processors installed on the robots. The task of finding a solution to this was given to the TeaKingesians, which not long after would discover the soul-supportive processors. The production of those very processors by the divider kin would end up raising the intelligence bar of the robots - and making them report stuff about what they’ve noticed better to whoever they’re assigned to.

@doomlightning - Neodichorisare Cogitandi, “Divider” - HO

  • Small Herbivore

Mutations: GEM Injection (2/6), Glorious Acceleration (+0.5 M/R)
DM: Hardware-for-robots

Nd. Cogitandi have been interested for a while in taking the potential of the blessed metal to the next level, by having the signatures of the many kinds this material develop into already a few months ago injected into the forum fabric by the injector device, which proved itself much-useful over the history of the covenant alliance. As so, they attempted to do what was said, and once the injector was used, they waited to see a change in GEM’s nature - would it become stronger? Or would it cost less to materialize? They waited and waited for days, until it became clear that something went wrong - it’s not known what, but the good thing is that the injector wasn’t damaged by this failure. In order to recompensate for this unholy incident which costed a 2 weeks’ worth of the divider scientists’ time, it was decided that instead the fusion of biology and metal should be pushed in the direction of faster evolution. This task took a week and a half to complete, and the results of this further fusion will surely pay off in the future times to come…
Meanwhile the archmagic God decided to have the dividers produce the processors which have been designed by the crawlers to aid the intellects of the robot kin. Populaces of dividers went into factories, which went through many times already, assembling processors piece by piece, welding together what would in the end allow this species, like all the others in the covenant, to attain some extra insights into their surroundings thanks to more intelligent robotics.

@CatSquared - Multipoda Cat-Bestiae, “Cat Beasts” - ID

  • Tiny Omnivore

Mutations: [HUNTS; NULLIFIED BY DEUS MUTATION (6/6)]
DM: Stop The Hunts (6/6)

The M. Cat-Bestiae society living in the secure Mistorb PM has been preparing for new actions which’d be taken against the much-interesting extra-forumal biotas, inhabiting other forums in different corners of the internet. The Devourer had plans of preventing them from uniting into a single entity per a forum and, after they have been kept separate species, turning the “alien” species into thralls (and some of the more intellectually developed ones into obedient cultists of the deadly God The Devourer is) which would surely greatly increase the strenght of the cat-beast domain, even if not inside the home forum. But those plans are now just, well, plans of the past, as Deus alarmed by the possibility of further Cat-Bestiae moves against the different forum biotas would state a powerful warning against any new attacks on them, effectively dealing with the hostile actions this biota has been taking against those which lie beyond where this forum stretches to. The Devourer might seem to be obeying what the archmages’ God said, but in the mind of theirs this soul God surely wishes to still get a shot at exploiting the less-developed biotas which, to this point, were a rather easy target, up until Deus stepped in and caused the plan’s plight.

NPC - Paucipoda Narrenists, “Darren” - HO

Mutations: Reformed Organization X 2 (+1 Strenght, +1 Stealth)
DM: Weightlifting Systems

M. Narrenists armies, in spite of possessing some of the most dangerous weapons the forum has to offer, if not the most dangerous infact, have suspected for a long time that the suboptimal organization of the troops within the armies of the darren brethen has caused failures of various darrenling legions over the months and, perhaps, even years in the forum. This faithful months, the 53rd one after Limagriseus appeared as the first member of the forum biota infact, the Paucipodal highranks got down to work on reforming the armies. Over three weeks of new organizing orders being sent to legions all across the forum the armies call home, the highest commanders achieved what they wanted - a greatly improved army system, which makes it’s soldiers fight more fiercly than ever, forming close links with all their close legionmates in the smallest army units, then developing into larger groups of legions until entire divisions are formed.
Deus, the god long in charge of the covenant alliance this species too is member of, has sent some new plans to the darren high command, ordering the development and construction of new propulsion systems made to lift weights heavier than what was lifted ever before in this strange realm. In the week following the armies’ reorganization, this order was completely fullfilled, with the lifting machines waiting for whatever Deus has to say…

  • Small Omnivore, Species’ God in control of The Mistorb

Mutations: Vassalization Reinforcement, Mistdom-RealLife Questioning

Being alarmed by the feeling of losing it’s grip on the possibly dangerous Mistorb, Deus quickly assembled a team of prized scientists from the covenant already stationed at the laboratory in the Mistvault PM to create a “boosting soul” for the vassalization soul which lies inside of the dark orb. The team would prove their worth and fame, designing and then injecting the reinforcing soul into the Mistorb via the Injector, just like the fief-soul proper was injected two months ago. Following this, being sure that what the mistworm turned into cannot ever escape it’s grasp again, Deus would start questioning the orb about the strange interactions Humans of the world beyond not just the forum, but the virtual realm itself, and the various mist forces over the eras the forum experienced - from the creation of the mist and, eventually, it’s “kingdom” a couple dozen months ago, to the recent, highly suspected (albeit left with no solid evidence) fusion of a forum user with the darkblur, a being released by the mistorb a couple of months ago. According to the orb, human souls, while not being able to use it in the world of the real, have a great potential which can be expressed in the forum by the individuals who took on the path of “cult and darkness” - that’s what it descibed the now-antique “wizards of the internet”, which first brough it to life years ago thanks to combining all the species present in the forum back then into one entity - by using cybermagic present in the ancestors of the archmage kin and, to solidify the mists’ design in place, a strong dose of human will, given by members of a couple months old “cult” back then. When it comes to the more recent darkblur incident, the orb says that while it can’t be exactly sure what happened here (as that act was done by darkblur, not the dark orb), it thinks that, while the forum is like a prison to all creatures within, beings outside the forum, including the real world, could enter it without a hitch, althrough at a cost - they’d never be able to leave again. The orb also said that the reason why Gamernicegames has slain their closest ones and created the “demonic circle” was since entering the forum from real world requires a fee far larger than entering it from an another website - in this case, entering the forum from the realm of the real living requires two to be sent to the realm of the dead in order to gain all the energy required for a human soul to be transferred into the forum. Since no police investigation was launched into the forum, it can also be suspected that whatever occured in the insane user’s flat at the moment of the soul transportation must’ve caused huge devastation of that living space in the real world, so much so that the forum couldn’t be linked to what one would assume is the death of three people. The orb can’t really pindown how one would get so obsessed with the forum that they’d leave the real world in favour of a pretty obscure website through…

@willow - Cancrorum Venenatorum, “Venomous Wall Crab” - HO

  • Small Herbivore + Parasite

Mutations: Soul-In-A-Website Experiment, Self-Sufficient Souls (+1 Stealth)
DM: Outsider Communications (5/6)

C. Venenatorum would retry the experiment from the previous month, but this time with a major change - instead of using physical objects, the souls of a queen and a few workers were sent to some obscure website where they shouldn’t be seen by anybody. As the experiment started, the wallcrabs told some of the most enthusiastic users of this species to go to that website and observe any distortions which could be caused by a creature’s soul being present there. After their return, they said that soul-related distortions were seen entering the website… but in a matter of a dozen or so seconds they shrunk into oblivion, signalling that the soul causing the distortion perished. It seems like even if one could travel beyond the forum from within, what lies further than the forum’s clading walls is extremely hostile to anything related to the biota, so much that the environments as a whole acts like acid, quickly dissolving anything that dares to stay there… But besides that, a new type of soul was developed, which can stay in the soul form permanently, not needing a connection with a critter to stay “alive”. Those souls are rather weak, but they do provide a good degree of intelligence to higher-ups in the wallcrab hives…
On a more important note, Deus had this species set up more permanent ways of communications with the forum outsiders, which should make the links between these forums and this one more stable… But such links might not be in use anymore, as not long after first messages were sent using the new methods the other-biota organisms, of which biotas there are twelve, announced that what they feared has arrived - the conditions within their forums have been worsening over their stay in them, and it seems like very soon the forums will become inhospitable. As so the twelve biotas finally fused into twelve beings, one for each forum, and they all seem to have developed special means of exiting their forums and heading for an another location - in their final messages, they said that this place has appeared in their minds ever since their inception, and while they don’t know much about, they all have developed two ideas about it - it’s most likely hospitable permanently, and secondly, they all think that this place hosts the “devourer demon”, which all of them remember well even through last raids happened many weeks ago now, which while in real world isn’t much time, for forum critters of any kind that’s the equvalent of multiple generations, decades. They should arrive to that place next month. Could it be that their home forums will soon become no different from the website used in the soul teleportation experiment?

Some new important events are ought to happen soon…

M1: research the forum’s source code, cross reference it with the code of a blank page, and isolate the code that lets the forum biota exist within the forum

M2: incorporate the code into the souls of 5 workers and a queen, modified to project a feild that lets things from inside the forum exist within 1 inch of the surface of each soul, then repeat the experiment

I am going to ask this again:

Not that I’m aware of

Hm. I guess then such alliances aren’t in existence…

@CatSquared you should try to pick on the previous species creation research, so that you can create a thrall species designed specifically to be thralls.

Mutation 1: Upgrade the Injector in order to make it able to inject in websites outside the forums.

Mutation 2: Use the lab to research why things cant exit from the forums but they can enter.

Mutation 3: Use the ability to control movement between threads to lock the darkblur in a thread.

Cov Mutations:

Teakinges: Further improve the processors.

Doom: Aid Willow’s research, focus on finding out what makes the outside websites so corrosive against biota.

Catsquared: research how to use genesis to create a new species.

Darren: Aid in improving the processors.

Willow: Use the upgraded injector, and the knowledge gained, to try to stop the websites of the outsiders from becoming inhospitable.

I don’t think that’d work…

  1. Try to use the species modification tech to turn the Wall crab cultists Into a species specialised for worship
  2. Build a military outpost in an area outside the forum
  3. Try to modify the Devourer to gain more power from souls

Ey @doomlightning we could use you submitting thy votes. 3 mutations that is.

I did try to submit
but the last update make the moving in the forum (the real one) hazard to do anything here

anyway:

  1. bite maniplaicen to better use the matirials
  2. improve dex
  3. GE the plains for sutable
1 Like

“Digestion manipulation”?

What do you mean by that?

What if I lift the entire thread?

Can’t do that either as threads are made of posts.

What if I excavate all of the post substrate and rebuild it?

What if I cut the post from it’s bedrock that anchors it?

You cannot mine out the indestructible layer at the bottom of the posts. Without it, all and any “frankenstein-posts” are doomed to fall into the cold void below.

The post-soil will quickly regenerate from such a large loss, and the cut-away portion will face the falling problem as mentioned before. Also only the bedrock and the soil connected to it from top can regenerate.

I changed my votes .

At this pace I hope we are set to check all the endgame requirements before February comes to an end…

plains = places of flats

So flat, letterless posts I suppose?
