I think a major push involving expos and the such would benefit from macroscopic features being shown off. I think we’re going to get a good amount of positive buzz and marketing from the Microbe Stage being complete, since it will be proof that Thrive is in fact capable of progress via breaking the age old “0 complete stages” critique. Work on the Multicellular, which should progress pretty quickly, will further increase perception on our future.
But for a lot of these big “one-and-done” type marketing/fundraising events, I get the impression that showing very tangible signs of innovation (such as a potential macroscopic stage editor, or the world generator) would be most effective.

And both of these will probably shine the most somewhere around 2.0.0. Which in itself will probably release in late 2026 or early 2027.
You must have a permit to collect donations. Due to the thing we are trying to accomplish it is hard to get a tax-free non-profit status. So if we were to apply for a new donation collection permit I would want to consult a specialist about our situation first. And that gets expensive fast if a lawyer needs more than an hour to answer the unknowns about the situation.
Chicago? Is this like an event that someone would have to go to? Because I will not be taking it upon myself the hassle of trying to travel to such an event.

As was said, someone would have to physically be there. So the expo is out of question in such case.
The expo is run by PG Connects. They run a bunch of other ones, they are also sponsored by Unity and Epic Games to an extent. Although the people funding the indie pitches are “Xsolla”. They aren’t THAT well known although they aren’t invisible. They worked with PUBG and Epic Games for a share of the payments.
So the idea is if your game is seen as worthy, they give your team a “bit” of cash to continue making and building it up, of course there’s also crowdfunding from the regular people there.
Although as it was said before, the main purpose of getting into an expo is to hopefully gain traction so sales can go up.
“We prefer to see unreleased games, though we’re happy to see games that are out too” So yes, Thrive would be allowed according to the basic criteria.
Another thing “Big Indie Pitch” will do is advertise your game everywhere if they find it worthy, there will also be journalist coverage if they find it unique enough.

There’s tons but this is the only one I believe can be reached by the team.
So it appears we have two options:
Go on Kickstarter, it would be online so it’ll be easier to clobber together and >could< give the game much more funding but is a huge risk.
Go to the Big Indie Pitch where we could get investment from professionals, a decent following and decent coverage in online journals but it would be in person.

Also you are certain by going to the expo we wouldn’t oblidge to the expo owners for them for instance to own RG, right?
