THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 1)

What did you mean by that, @Magic8Ball04? *semi-necro I know

It’s a pseudo-meme for paying respects to someone.

The first common usage was during streams where the streamer would sarcastically ask the chat to “press f to pay respects”.

By the wayI have no basis for any of these statements, I’m going off logic and vague memories.

Hmm… I still don’t understand. ‘F’ for :belgium:? Hmm… . And what does ‘Pay respect’ mean?

the origin came from call of duty:

it spread because of how ridiculous the statement is, and became a meme then after awhile it died but has a resurgence lately as a way to pay respect for a death like gg or is used ironically

if you want to know more this site can help:

Here’s a video of f to pay respects in action:

Basically it’s very absurd that the player is required to press f during a really emotional scene to pay respects to a dead person. From there it spread like crazy and f is now synonymous to saying jokingly “well, RIP”, very popular in livestream chats when something bad happens.

In general, using the red cross anywhere except for a medical facility is forbidden, since attacking red crosses is also forbidden, (to stop people from bombing (field) hospitals) and this stops people from abusing that rule by just putting red crosses everywhere to confuse the enemy.

I… I don’t know tbf.

is discobot actually a robot?

Yes, discobot is a chat bot.

That was actually from when I edited the picture, to create this thingy:

Also, that Tumblr post is not the source IIRC, just one of the more popular images containing it.

Hey @blackjacksike, I noticed you sometimes sign your posts with (gabeN). I’m curious as to what it means.

gabeN is the shortened version of Gabe Newell, the CEO of Valve, which is the company that posseses Steam and that made Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress 2, etc (though some games weren’t entirely their idea, they still helped making them). In Team Fortress 2, in the commentaries, the first comment you hear is from Gabe Newell. At the end, he says “Thanks, and have fun!”, which became my favorite quote from him. I think at some point, he refers to himself as ‘gabeN’, but I don’t remember if it was from that quote.

What image was your creation? The worm head or the cut head? IF it’s the worm head, does that mean that guy on tumblr had already been on this forum? Who would that be then? Hmm… .

I bet someone had to straight face walk up to the general and be like “this is a Naruto run sir” (begins to Naruto run).

I still don’t understand. “Remarked a public high school teacher when asked about her school”… .
Remark meaning : Notice or mention/comment.

Nope, I really don’t understand. I first thought that was about a “belgium” joke, but now I see it’s impossible with the definitions of ‘remark’. What did you mean, @Magic8Ball04? Explain more clearly… .

He’s using the mentioned meaning. Remarked = said but fancier

It still doesn’t explain his sentence. Confusion… .

“gaben” is heard in the half life 2 commentaries where he says his email, which is his first name Gabe and the first letter of his last name Newell. So when you pronounce gabeN@valve.com it sounds funny and became a meme.

Why do I have to keep explaining Internet culture here all the time? How are you accessing these forums of you don’t have Internet?
