SECURITY ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE READ

Regarding anyone running Windows 10 on their device
The NSA has released an official, public statement urging everyone to update their Windows devices as soon as possible. An exploit has been identified in the current version of Windows 10 that can allow malicious software to be automatically installed on your computer, under the guise of approved Windows updates.

This means that very soon, hackers will be developing tools to be able to take control of and install malicious software to over 900 million PCs worldwide, with little to nothing that can be done to stop or remove the infected software due to the system believing it is from an approved Windows Update.

The NSA and US Department of Defense urges everyone on Widows 10 to update their computer IMMEDIATELY, as a fix for the exploit has already been released. Again, failing to update now will put your machine at extreme risk in the future.

To update, click the windows logo in the bottom left, click the cog, go to ā€œupdate and securityā€ and press ā€œcheck for updates.ā€

Links to the OFFICIAL NSA statement report are included below for you to read.

Is this real? (post filler)

propably, but even if itā€™s not, itā€™s fine.

It seems pretty real to me, thereā€™s a bunch of stuff about this on microsoft blog and also on reddit.
This is potentially very serious as once the exploits start appearing any HTTPS site you visit on Windows can be intercepted and replaced with anything (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-in-the-middle_attack) though I didnā€™t find indications that Windows update itself could be compromised directly, as someone was saying they use different kinds of certificates with certificate pinning. But Iā€™m installing updates on the windows server I use for thrive builds, for sure.

Wait so we have to update our machines because hackers may disguise their software as updates? Somethingā€™s weird here.

See my post about me not finding any credible source for that claim. But the actual vulnerability allows hackers to swap out any certificate for their own forged one, so they can make software that for example says that it is signed by Microsoft when in reality it is signed with a forged certificate. After installing the latest Windows update, a fix is applied that those forged certificates are no longer considered valid, so now longer can hackers give you an executable says that it is signed by Microsoft.

Well I received my update two days ago, so there is no way to know if it was a fake one or not.

That update is the real one, since that was when the update for the fix was released

the forum feels sooooooo dead. new posts are rare. how can we change this?

Itā€™s winter, TeaKing. This is normal that people donā€™t talk that much during winter.

because their mouths are closed shut from the cold? lol

Itā€™s related to people being more depressed or melancholic during winter.

People also spend more time inside tho. The forums usually die out during summer too because of people being outside.

I spent a lot of time getting the patreon stuff working. There are now two special forum groups that you should get automatically added to if you become a patron (at the appropriate level), and they should grant a special title to let everyone now you are a cool dude.
I was hoping weā€™d get more than 3 patronsā€¦ with Untrustedlife being the only one with a forum account, so I couldnā€™t test the title granting yet, but the forum group setting and the private section should work.

Ah, two new instances of the lounge!

Actually, just one because only the VIP supporters get a special forum category. The devbuilds supporters just get the devbuilds and a cool title to go with it

I donā€™t know why, but these years, I feel that sometimes I have trouble to think and get some headaches. My memory and my brain arenā€™t as good as they were when I was a child, yet Iā€™m still young. Is that normal?

Is there any way to fix such an issue?

I was going to donate to patreon but i noticed that it is a monthly payment of 15 dollars instead of a one time payment. Also i donā€™t have an account.

That is sort of the point of Patreon. Itā€™s not like kickstarter, youā€™re supposed to use it to continually support a creatorā€™s work.
