THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 1)

Thanks for the explanations. I’m not computer-savvy, so those are useful. I must have a laptop because I move a lot and must carry the thing. I can’t afford to have multiple computers, so I need one that does everything and is portable. I have no intention of assembling the parts nor any need for that knowledge beyond this moment. That would be like learning a language just to have a 20-minute conversation and never use the language again.

I did some investigating based on your and others’ advice, and I think I found one I like. It doesn’t have lots of unnecessary gimmicks like a touchscreen and is cheaper. I mostly use my computer for Microsoft Office and Youtube, and when I play games, I don’t play very graphically intense ones (Crusader Kings, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress). My computer hasn’t been able to handle AAA games since 2013, but I never play those anyway, so that didn’t bother me. Bannerlord is the first game I wanted to play but couldn’t.

What do you think of the computer I selected? Is it a good purchase based on my needs?

It’s a perfect choice for your needs.

I beat System Shock: Enhanced Edition! Yay! Now, I just need to prepare myself for the Max difficulty run! 3333man! For the achievement!

Enemies difficulty: 3

Enemies are more numerous, stronger and more resilient than before.

Puzzle difficulty: 3

Puzzles are more complex and can only be solved by one exact solution.

Cyberspace difficulty: 3

The current is stronger and controls are way harder than before. The time limit in C-space is also shorter.

Mission (story) difficulty: 3

There’s a time limit of 7 hours to beat the game. If you don’t beat it in time, it’s game over and you have to reload a save or restart.
Three words: Prepare, prepare and prepare.

I am uncertain where to put a message like this. I used to type them in the shoutbox, but perhaps a thread is better.

Anyway, I found a game called “Songs of the Eons” that fellow Thrive enthusiasts might enjoy. At the moment it is barely a tech demo, but its ambitions are laudable. It is meant to be a civilization simulator with detailed aspects such as ecology, economics, and technological regression. I have no doubt that the game’s scope will be drastically reduced as it is developed, but the developers might have some interesting ideas along the way.

There is a Discord server for it too.

When you lock a thread, it’s not little padlock anymore, it’s a crossed out speech bubble.

I am back! Finally. did anyone miss me?

I think I’ll stop trying to learn OOP until I get a minor in programming (and a major in biology).

once thrive is over will revolutionary games dispand or work on new games?

Will Thrive truly ever be over? Unless everyone abandons the project.

once it has been completed I mean.

Will Thrive ever be complete? Will there ever be a time when there are no more endless threads asking for the most random things to be added to the game?

please stop talking in metaphors.

It’s not a metaphor. It’s quite literal.

Has anyone heard of Bannerlord?

Nah, but I heard about the Banhammer.
