THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 1)

I though 1.0 would be the game release, huh.

Well, the game is already released technically…

The dev team uses a version naming system in wich the first number indicates the number of stages finished, so 1.0 would be the microbial stage finished.

Oh ok, i didn’t know that.

And here I am capping everything at 30 fps, because I don’t notice any differences above 20.

When you play enough video games, you’ll definitely start to notice/

Even moving the cursor around on your desktop has a noticeable smoothness difference between 60 and 144 FPS.

I had a 144hz monitor for months but it was only recently that I realized that it been set 60hz, so I am not sure if I can even tell the difference

I had the same thing happen (monitor not defaulting to the right refresh rate), and immediately when I set mine right to 144 Hz there was a definite change in the smoothness of the cursor.

this ai is even worse than the thrive ai that chases litteral rocks.

Why can’t I go over 144 Hz when my monitor is 165 Hz?

Most monitors that advertise 165 Hz are actually 144 Hz that have an overdrive mode where the monitor is basically overclocked to run slightly faster. It causes extra ghosting and colour inaccuracy due to pixels overshooting their target colours. For that reason you need to enable it specifically in the in monitor options. At least that’s how it is on my two monitors, because of those drawbacks I haven’t even bothered trying it out.

That’s good to know. By the way, I’ve run across this video.

Is it true? What do you think about this?

I wonder why we never heard anything about that again? Like I remember when that law was coming, but I don’t remember seeing any news if it actually passed or anything. To me it’s pretty ridiculous that lawmakers think it is a good idea to give the police / prosecution unvetted access (ie. not pre-approved by a court) to phone contents, when in the past they had to get a court to aprove wire tapping, and that had less impact on the privacy of the people.

Okay, so I wanted to speak what I think about how memory might work physically without proper knowledge about neurology. This is probably useless since there are many scientists who most likely know the answer already, but I wanted to share my hypothesis so that I don’t forget it.

Memory is the recollection of an event or information. There are two types of memory: short-term memory (STM) and long-term memory (LTM). My hypothesis is that memory is stored within a chemical substance, which is managed by the brain. The chemical agent used by STM should be very reactive considering how fast we can forget something using STM. LTM must use an agent that is little reactive, but just enough to be modified lightly, which would explain how our brain can actually modify an LTM event.

Am I even close to the truth?

I guess not.

My understanding is that it is all about the connections between synapses, meaning that memory is encoded in the connections and not chemically.
