THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

I noticed it too late. Itโ€™s just like when Thinkgeek was bought by the lizard people at Gamestop who only ended up mishandling their assets leading to its downfall. Except this time, it wasnโ€™t bought.

When the heck was that?

idk, i just vauguely remember it, like the meaning of the word โ€œsupercalifragilisticexpialidociousโ€, or that album about a smoldering file

Hey guys I found how underwater civs can make iron tools.

What if they used a hydraulic press to shape the metal? This way they wouldnโ€™t need to melt it.

Weโ€™ll see how long itโ€™ll last thenโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m sorry as well. I just feel so down that I canโ€™t think of something related to the game as Iโ€™m unable to enjoy anything.

Was that about the questions you asked? We do regularly get general gaming questions, but those are a bit difficult to answer when for example related to VR it might be the case that none of the devs on the stream have VR so there isnโ€™t really much to talk about.

XD! My bad, I didnโ€™t think about that when asking that question. Speaking of VR, it seems the Deckard has not come out during the SteamVR Fest.

This is exactly what I expected would end up happening.

This this?

The second this was supposed to be is instead of this word being repeated for a second time.

Imagine you hear this at nightโ€ฆ

Me after hearing distorted city noises: โ€œthe urban spirits are coming for me :sleepy:โ€

Iโ€™m currently finding the game nightmarishly difficult and frustrating as soon as I get a nucleus. It just seems to be almost impossible to progress without photosynthesis. I was trying to use iron, and could just about survive, but auto-evo kept extinct-ing my species.

When I was first playing Thrive, I thought there was no way to survive in multicell without photosynthesis, but eventually managed it with a few setups, including feeding on iron and hunting other cells. Now, even on single-cell it all just seems so much more difficult. It seems to take so long to kill a single enemy with a pilus, and itโ€™s a struggle to engulf anything.

Anyone else having the same issues?

Did you have similar issues before the update? If so, what changed? Is the movement sluggish for you?

Turning is a lot slower, which accounts for a lot of the difficulty in stabbing things effectively, as I would previously turn as fast as I could to spike things repeatedly.

When my cell is smaller, Iโ€™m sliding around a lot, but larger cells feel a lot more sluggish. Adding the nucleus seems to make it very difficult to move the cell at a fast enough pace. Most of the time I found a resource, by the time Iโ€™d got to it Iโ€™d used more resources than I gained from it, due to the length of time it took. And I was struggling to get enough energy to make use of flagella, etc.

Resource management has been a lot more difficult than before. I think itโ€™s mainly due to slower manoeuvring, and more difficulty in engulfing. The engulfing difficulties are due to things sliding away on contact, rarely finding any cells small enough to engulf (which might be random luck), seemingly needing glucose specifically to enter engulf mode, and the sluggish manoeuvring making it hard to chase or kill anything.

Aside from that, the game is running great. FPS is way up! Iโ€™m hoping that once I can get past the crashes in muticell, that will be playable at a decent speed.

Valve released SteamVR Link for the Meta Quest headsets, yet knowing Zuckerberg AKA the lizard person, I would hardly trust his VR headsets at all.

Update: GUYS!! LOOK!

Being in engulf mode requires extra ATP. This has been a part of the engulfing feature since the beginning (or at least as long as Iโ€™ve been on the Thrive team).

I like how HH just ignored my update.

Thank you for the feedback. Itโ€™s been a while since I personally play tested Thrive myself to a decent capacity, but with refactored physics and movement itโ€™s probably needed for us to either make movement smoother or slightly reduce movement costs or such.
