So how’s your forum game coming along?

Never ask a man his salary
never ask a woman her age
never ask someone how their forum game is coming along

My game’s coming along. I haven’t really worked on it for the past week or so because I have midterms next week, but after those I expect to continue making steady progress

You don’t have to deal with graphics. That makes it much easier basically you don’t have to deal with any driver bugs, desktop environment related problems etc. About the only thing that can go wrong is using a too new environment to compile so that your GLIBC requirement is unreasonable.

Is it just me or are there a lot of forum games lately?

I agree, there seems to be so many, yet so few are successful.

I think you just open it and then it just gets buried and all the potential is wasted

To be fair I think there only been like 4 that have actually ever been completed out of like 100

So much broken potential :broken_heart:

People need to know - if start something, if possible, finish it right.

my forum game will last until a player has control over the universe so probably at least until the aware stage is out with multiplayer

alright @doomlightning , you have someone to beat in terms of forum game length

(jk, no pressure…)

Wait until you hear about the secret lounge forum game, where if the game runner is not active enough on the forums they’ll completely lose access to the lounge and can’t run the game anymore.

Hey hhyyrylainen if we make it to accended can we add custom reaction emojis?

I was hoping that the video would be better than the comments, which I skimmed last night, but sadly that is a really low effort, bad quality video. They just basically read an article written by someone else (offering just a couple of minutes of extra info from other sources and their thoughts on top of that), which might be copyright infringement as they don’t add much of their own reaction and their reading of the article is a substitute for reading the original article. So the video author is guilty of a worse offence than they claim Microsoft is doing…

Also it took 20 minutes for them to address the point of what the AI is doing. I agree that if AI is regurgitating identifiable pieces of copyrighted code, then that is of course wrong and needs to be fixed. But for example in the case of AI art, you do not see the tools outputting (even almost) exact copies of artwork they were trained on. That’s what Co-pilot should be ensured is done; it should only output code that is not traceable to any one source. That is similar to what humans learning from code do. Why shouldn’t AI be able to use similar learning method as humans?

All in all, I’m not particularly worried, at some point the legal questions related to AIs learning from publicly accessible resources needs to be addressed which applies to all the AIs like image, text and code generating AIs. And finally even if code is moved to another code hosting site, that can also be used as easily (if the code is public) for downloading the code and using it as learning material for an AI. Likely the reason why only code on Github has been used is that it is the biggest repository of code and as such the AI authors just used that and didn’t bother looking at other sites.

Probably not. Eventually the current reaction plugin will break, forcing us to use the official reaction plugin which does not even support custom reaction emoji at all.

Is it just me or did the forums break?

In what way? I haven’t noticed anything but I just hopped on
