I wonder when will this cash cow run out of it’s golden milk…

What about Tom Cruise Mummy remake?

So like some sort of a remaster movie?

More like a failed reboot.

I suppose the milk of theirs has finally begun to become spoiled

Good thing I am lactose intolerant!

Probably bad for a bunch of other reasons

It is great to see science finally trying to understand positive emotions in other animals!

What will we call the unit of measuring joy? Happiness?

The 8 part is itself a remake of I believe a 5 part in Black and White. I was just talking about the one set. There was also a failed reboot of the Scorpion King.

And apparently, Hollywood is going to try to reboot the Mummy again…

Wonder if it’ll fail even harder

As hard as the other one failed, that would really be an achievement.

Cinema can do deliver beyond the negative expectations at times… Look at what they did to animal farm

β€œfree” is insane, it was very very costly and thats for those who stopped being colonized, parts of west/north africa kept being colonized by france until litterally right now, and south africa left it’s collonial overlords for… colonial overlord who happened to live in the country, they did get lots of technological advancement but thats because the colonial overlords had to take the train too, but it didn’t improve the lives on anyone til the end of apartheid. some didn’t even get development, leo the second kinda just murdered people. Ethiopia was in a terrible position for a bit but these days it’s doing very well compared to it’s neighbors, i doubt not being colonized was a signifigant downside.

east asian has a low population … china has a high population
i guess they just let people say whatever these days even if it makes no sense

african is an unhinged category to put alongside indian and chinese. africa has a higher population than india or china, but no one cares because africa is a continent, and if we’re comparing those, it gets beaten by asia (which has both india and china). West african is probably the area with the potential to go for india of china levels of success, Nigeria is BIG, people forget that.

β€œMost” is so utterly unhinged, i’m just going to assume you mean plurality.

more like it was actually supposed to start a whole classic monster movie cinematic universe and failed so hard you’ve never heard of the Dark Universe

east africa in general did very well, it’s a forgotten part of the spice trade, integral for getting gold into india to pay for the spices, which is where the somalians and somalilanders got the naval technology to make good vassals. People tend to discuss how the chinese needed to be payed in silver and the effort taken to get it to them, but the rest of the silk road / spice trade accepted gold, and it needed to come from somewhere, which was, in large part, west africa. West africa never achieved military or naval power, so it’s unsexy and ignored, but they had some good stuff you’d need to trade across the sahara and mine gold and stay stable and in same cases, unified.

Heard of it once… About how hard it failed to become it’s own thing.

Where did this come from? Can we not debate the ethics of the history of colonialism on the forums, please?

tbf when animalia first made those remarks which deathwake referenced there didn’t seem to be backlash against them. Is it only the escalation that crossed the line?

We were talking about the history of the red sea (Byzantium, Axum, Sassanians) and then it kind of railed into the rise and downfall of the Ethiopian empire and then I made an observation of how due to the empire not being annexed they ended up not as developed as their neighbors (for a time).

I believe we should drop the topic
