The Thrive Odyssey

It sounds like the other members of the tribe want to be humans, but I think I will migrate to Europe and become Neanderthals if I can. Especially if we’re doing alternate histories. Down with the humans!

I guess you can play as Neanderthals since it’s alternate history. You can even have a strength buff with an intelligence debuff compared to your human rivals.

Can brute strength win against sharp sticks tho

Well, I also planned to go to Europe but as humans. I don’t intend to attack you, though.

I am going to mongolia and china. Begins Evil laughter

Anyway, we need to evolve before we do that.

Well, I was being dramatic there. I’ll probably play in a cooperative way. I also won’t be sad if Neanderthals go extinct anyway.

If we wanted to stay kind of historical, deviating from real history could be penalized in dice rolls. Hopefully that would gently direct the course of events to not get too crazy.

What time period are we in roughly? I’d like to write a brief epilogue for Sysiphus, and I need to know whether there’s presently a land bridge to the Iberian peninsula.

We are still Homo habilis, and we are waiting for some folks to mate. Right, OoferDoofer?

I would say we are about 2,080,000 years ago, give or take a 100 thousand years.

I REALLY don’t like the idea of penalizing people for not following history, because as i said earlier, it isn’t fun to have your future written.

@blackjacksike i know. i am doing it next turn unless i get banished again

we are actually 2.4 million years ago lol

I don’t like the penalization, but we shouldn’t deviate too much from real history either. Because the last thing we want is humanity getting stuck and not progressing.

How? Homo habilis was 2.3 to 1.4 million years ago. It then became homo erectus. if we are becoming humans next turn we have to be at least on the trailing edge of homo habilis’s reign.

@blackjacksike If you mean technological advances, i agree with you. However, i woud prefer if we dont have the same country specific events, like the american revolution, or world war I/II

well, here, take a look:

it says 2.4 mya.

True, but it was because we deviated from history.

I agree with that idea.

Maybe we could just commit to role-playing in a fairly realistic way, then. Like, maybe the Neanderthals last until the invention of agriculture and writing through my efforts, but disappear soon after. Then, I’d have achieved something, but we still wouldn’t have space Neanderthals.

It looks like the Messinian salinity crisis was way earlier than I though, so the exact era doesn’t matter anyway.

I would assume we have 1 more evolution before we become Sapiens.

IIRC, the game master said that we will skip directly to Homo sapiens.

@TeaKing @zenzonegaming please post your actions
