Small conflicts are allowed, but not a full on war.
I’m assuming it will be another round at least until I have to deal with invasions? If so I’ll keep them. The Laestrygonians might have less fish-based priorities text turn once the expedition comes back and reports that things went sideways, but until then they will smoke away.
