After the user Gromalocaris? Well, interesting sea-beast, but I would make the fins much wider if it is to be swimming swimmingly.

Species: Xyrill

Planet of Origin: Delta Sentina Prime

System of Origin: Delta Sentina

Anatomy and Physiology

The Xyrill are an intelligent carbon based insect-species who live on the Planet Delta Sentina Prime in the Delta Sentina system.
They have a body similar to a wasp, but much bigger. Standing upright they measure 1.20 m. Their four front limbs have developed to be arms with very thin-fingered hands, while their two back limbs are kind of legs, but only for standing. Both their thin arms and legs have two ‘elbows’ of some sort. They move only by flying. Their head also is wasp-like, but a bit rounder and with bigger jaws. They have three antennae on top of their head, which function as ears.
Their approximate lifespan is about 70 years.

Technology

The Xyrill have reached level 1.4 on the Kardashev Scale, with harvesting their planets full energy and having a Dyson swarm around their sun, each of the ten units measuring 20 miles in diameter. They have colonies on close-by star systems, but none of them has a population above ten million.
They build very high and slim buildings on their homeworld, having the highest one measure 5.3 kilometers.
Their ships mainly use an Ion-drive, which produces a blue glow at the back end of their ships. They also send out unmanned probes out of their systems, reaching to discover other intelligent species.

Psychology

Their psychology is a very interesting thing.
They are an insect-species, which means millions of years ago their ancestors had a hive mind. Now they all are individuals, but the old paradigm remained in their culture and behavior.
A Xyrill will not hesitate to sacrifice himself for two (or more) others, the bigger picture or a ‘superior’ Xyrill.
This made wars between them some of the bloodiest in the entire galaxy and it resulted in the complete extinction of the less mighty countries. The biggest and mightiest country took over the planet.
Given their militant past, they nevertheless are a race of explorers and scientists.

Homeworld

Their homeworld, Delta Sentina Prime (DSP), is a planet with 0.93 Earth mass and gravity. Hence the name, it is the first planet in Delta Sentina. It orbits the K- star at a distance of 0.89 AU. The climate on DSP is a bit warmer as on Earth, and due to its straight axis there are no seasons on DSP. The Atmosphere is 56% O2, 38% N2 and 6% other.
The planet has one ocean and two continents, with the ocean sitting on the equator between the two continents.
(It is the planet shown on my Space Stage icon in Thrive Universe Fanart)
The Xyrills capital is on the only island between the continents.

i like it, but for them to be 1.20 m tall there planet needs to have a hi O2 content.
but it is good anyways.
edit: that was plenty :+1:

The rarolinguaeids

Rarolinguaeids are a diverse order of organisms which have evolved toothed tongues. while many species may differ in appearance. they have certain characteristics that they all share. like their compound eyes and toothed tongues
(two species from the order of Rarolinguae)

Top: Green nest scraper. Bottom: Silver Baleen foot

green nest scraper

The green nest scraper is an example of convergant evolution. their bodies are remarkably similar to the ant eaters on earth and their sharp backwards pointing baleen teeth lets them scrape the nests of their prey.

Silver baleen foot

The silver baleen foot is a a pentapedal organism that uses its tongue as a foot. not only does it provide extra support for the animal. its sharp and jaggedness allows them to use their tongue to scrape up and dig through the ground like a claw. letting them eat small insects and tubers underground.

Sea Swarmer

A strange, mysterious creature(s). Similarly to siphonophores. The Sea swarmer is not one organism, but rather an entire colony of organisms. all working together. These Giant organisms Roam the open seas with no destination in mind.

Nearly every sea swarmer you will see will be covered in parasites. and when it comes to size, no creature on its planet that has yet to be discovered can even compare. To the point where when a sea swarmer reaches a certain size, it is considered an island. a living island.

Sea swarmers are gentle giants, taking on the role of the whale niche. and unlike siphonophores. they are not completely hollow, but rather have a full set of organs completely alien to every other organism on its planet.

When it comes to mating. Sea swarmers are sexual animals and reproduce with specialised members of their colony. the ‘spermoids’ and “ovumoids” these animals are able to fuse with one another just like how a spermcell and a egg cell would and over time. a seaswarmer will arise from its parents egg.

(i dont think i could make a drawing that would do the Sea swarmer justice.)

Some aquatic life:

The caputrulloids are a interesting family of fish. their mouths face the ground and their skulls are a strange shovel like shape.

Vacuum fish

The vacuum fish lives near the shallow waters. where they spend their time shuffling around in massive colonys of up to 500! they feast on algae like organisms that grow on the sand as well as any other food particles they can find in the sand. Luckily. they only reach sizes of up to 4-6 cm.

When it comes to mating. swarms of vacuum fish will meet up when the oceans tides are at its biggest. and release countless eggs and sperm like cells into the ocean. sadly. soon after this massive activity. all of the adult vacuum fish die. leaving the babies to fend for themselves, and when the babies hatch, they feast on the bodies of their decaying parents.

Yum!

Sea surfers

Sea surfers are a distant cousin to the vacuum fish. their bodies are more streamlined and they inhabit the open oceans riding on the waves. similarly to the vacuum fish. these fish live in colonies. and whilst not as large. they still amass a size of roughly 30-50 in each colony. Sea surfers are opportunistic feeders. and they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. Adult sea surfers usually reach a size of 20-35 cm.

similarly to vacuum fish. sea surfers swarms will meet up and release clouds of egg and sperm like cells into the sea. dying and leaving their young to fend for themselves. and just like vacuum fish. they eat the remains of their decaying parents.

yum?

cookie cutter birdfish.

adult Cookie cutter birdfish use their beak like mouths to cling into their hosts body. and in a swift motion. they rotate and slice an entire 2-4 cm hole into their host. while younger cookie cutter birdfish prefer a more parasitic relationship and only cling onto their host and drain their blood.

Cookie cutter bird fish are solitary asexual animals.

These animals inhabit the planet ezunides. a planet with weaker gravity compared to earth, but a stronger atmosphere.

Ezunides rotates at a 45 degree tilt. and most of its terrain is rather flat. except for a small spot near the equator.

Yes, the planets atmosphere has a high O2 content.
Forgot to mention that. Thanks!

More life on ezunides:

The Great Sea slicer

Scientific name: acrifaciem tuam

Bio:
Despite the similarities between caputrulloids, They are not related at all. Sea slicers have bony bodies while caputrulloids do not. The great sea slicer and caputrulloid family are just one example of convergant evolution.

it seems that Sea slicers were once terrestrial animals which evolved to live in the seas. possibly due to a lack of food or unfavourable conditions. and a part of their interesting heritage can be seen in their fluffy spine mimicking the sort of body shape of the extinct spinosaurus. and showing that perhaps the currently tropical and wet ezunides may have been a much colder and harsher place.

Diet:
Great sea slicers are active predators and eat a variety of fish. from unlucky sea surfers, to some bigger creatures like rhino fish

habitat:
Great sea slicers are a species that inhabit the anywhere there is warmth and ocean. and so when the poles get colder in the winter, many migrate towards the equator.

behavior:
Sea slicers live together in pods of up to 30 and have shown signs of intelligence, similar to those of dolphins. they have been able to recognize themselves, show signs of problem solving skills and even mourn for their dead. However it seems very unlikely this species will become fully sentient.

Sand crawler

Scientific name: ambulans fin

Bio:
unlike caputrulloids, the sand crawler is a bony fish, and due to an unknown reason, sand crawlers have lost their organ that allows them to float, so now they walk on their 2 strong proto arms and use their powerful squid like tail to attract mates. with the strongest most attractive male having the largest and heaviest tail.

Diet:
Sand crawlers have 2 flat teeth, one on the roof of its mouth and the other at the bottom. it uses these teeth to crush the exoskeletons of clam like organisms which they eat. as well as coral like animals

habitat:
The sand crawlers have only managed to survive in one region and that is the islands of byon. (the islands on top right, to the right the massive continent with mountains) because of the islands warm temperature.

Behavior:
Sand crawlers live very peaceful lives, due to the lack of any true predators near the inner regions of the islands of byon, they have been able to propogate and grow in population. sadly it seems as if sand crawlers and their specialization will be their downfall, because food has become more scarce. and it seems very unlikely that they will manage to evolve in a way that will not lead to their extinction.

wow, i rely need to do more on this thread.

Well, do you have any particular ideas or inspiration? I usually get mine from media, books, or just random stuff piled together to create one thing.

i’m thinking about it…

I have a big universe that is pretty much a giant soup of stuff i have collected in my head throughout my life, the ones that Midelians (again, i wish i could find a good name for em’) are a part of. (Midelians are seperate from the Thrive Universe.)

Whats the story behind the Midelians?

You are going to get yourself into some deep Belgium, so be prepared to R E A D.

Summary

The Midelians are the most advanced race in their galaxy, due to a special energy, called the Miracle Crystal, or MC for short, as it is a substance with many special properties. It can shape matter into any other type of matter, such as turning water into soil, or wood into gold, and much more. It can also convert matter into energy, and back again, effectively giving Midelians infinite energy. Most Midelians are created through MC, but some may choose to reproduce regularly. Being ahead of the rest in resources, they also have decent military as well, with destructive vehicles that can navigate through all terrain with relative ease.

Midelians have also made themselves known throughout the galaxy, as many others have tried to get some of the MC for themselves. All have failed, but only one has ever come close. The leader, and final member of a dying race has attempted to gain the tech for his own personal gain through creating armies of genetically modified creatures he has come across to be very hard to fend off. Nevertheless, he was defeated as one Midelian had been chosen as someone to test the theory that MC could be used biologically. This had shown success, and he had gained small, but ever growing power at his own will.

Later on, it was discovered that MC can be created through mixing substances of light energy and dark energy. MC had been created on accident, however, as the beings having the light and dark had been in a war, which spread across systems in a secluded part of the galaxy. But, as a drawback, light energy is so dang hot, and dark energy is so dang cold, its really hard to obtain them through practical means.

I have no idea if i should leak any more info on this or not without creating its own book.

I’ve been trying to work on a few stories about the Thrive Universe as well.

All of these seem to be original things but I feel like adding a species I made from Stellaris. If it goes well I might make more Thrive Universe things with my many Stellaris empires I have made.
