On the Somali coast, who are the red and green lands? Also, you said uniting the coast might require waging war. But against who? The colonizers or other African nations?
Well you donโt have to unite the coast if you donโt want to. The game is basically a free for all, you can attack other african nations or european powers.
I think Iโd only attack if Iโm getting attacked. Anyway, will there be perks that we can unlock to boost some of our rolls? Like in Thrive Odyssey? In addition, are there NPC nations not marked on the map?

I presume the โemptyโ areas might also put up some resistance?
There are tribes in the unclaimed areas which you can steamroll through if youโre a european power but will take some effort if youโre a native african nation (unless your european overlord decides to give you weapons or something).
Yes.

Also I presume the hold of some colonizers on their colonized will differ (so for instance the ottomans would have a weaker hold on egypt/libya vs france have a stronger one on algeria)?
Well you can only have one player per nation unless you decide to federate. If one player is a puppet nation and the other is the master then the master can veto out any decisions the vassal/colony makes unless the colonyโs roll is higher than the master, in which case a rebellion can form.
