how many species do they include?

if I’m right and most background people live under it’s laws then it’s an honestly irresponsible number of species, however there is a main species that handles most military and law jobs. They seem very much like a democratic empire, and I think that’s the point. This kind of logic actually also makes the republic from star wars ff the table, as while they are quite peaceful, the outer rim of the galaxy doesn’t want to be under their laws, and for practical purposes, usually isn’t.

In Revenge of the Sith Palpatine conquered the galaxy by presenting the senate with an enemy and making a speech. He convinced the democracy to vote for autocracy.

So maybe some achievement could also be given for overturning a democracy like that?

Q > 1: a repeated achievement you can get many times, for power sources like nuclear, fusion, antimatter catalyzed fusion. artificial black holes which can require huge energy investment. the energy will exceed the output power by a lot for a while, but once you research enough you could get this achievement and start building actual power plants. Honestly this might be a bit much, but I like the idea of only using a power source for things like bombs and batteries where it doesn’t matter if you need to put in more power because the output isn’t going straight back into the grid, and finally being allowed to plug it in to the power grid.
