At the same time they have been assimilated into our (sub?)species and not the other way around so

And don’t forget Denisovans! The frequency and amount contributions of different human (sub)species depend on which region of the world you are from. People in the main Eurasian continent, Papa New Guinea, and Australia have more DNA from Denisovans rather than Neanderthals. I wonder if there are other (sub)species of human out there we have yet to discover that also contributed to modern humans?

Iirc there is one species from africa that we only know existed because of it’s part in local people’s dna.

I think the filter always makes it all-lowercase so you can distinquish it if it starts with a big “B”.
