If they’d do, why would normal vacuoles not give that?

That suggestion was based on the fact that hydraulic vacuoles provide rigidity to cell walls and also do something water-regulation based. I don’t think regular vacuoles do a similar thing to that, but I’m not sure.

I suppose that could work like that then. I presume from this you’d eventually unlock kidneys and stuff?

Vacuolization can be a sign of pathology.
Vacuoles can have many functions, as seen in Baker’s yeast.

In yeast cells the vacuole (Vac7) is a dynamic structure that can rapidly modify its morphology. They are involved in many processes including the homeostasis of cell pH and the concentration of ions, osmoregulation, storing amino acids and polyphosphate and degradative processes. Toxic ions, such as strontium (Sr2+), cobalt(II) (Co2+), and lead(II) (Pb2+) are transported into the vacuole to isolate them from the rest of the cell.[24]

I think besides homeostasis improvements all those functionalities are already in the game

  • Hivemind
This civilization would be influenced by the Termanids, Tyranids, and Arachnids.

Perhaps you can also include Formics from Ender’s Game, who can be allies?

These are the only ones I have though about mostly so far, but I do plan to have another based on the cyborgs/automaton legion, terminators/necrons for a robot/ai civilization.

There could also be a Borg influence on the robot/ai civs, but I wonder if it would overlap with Insect based hive minds.

For other civs, I wonder if a highly environmentally conscious civ would be a good addition? Or even ones similar to the Ferengi, which only care about money regardless of where it comes from?

What sort of evolutionary pressures would you need for such a moneyloving civ to emerge?

Maybe one where societies become ruled by corporations?

Yea but that would only come after the transition into a civ. Could even a human like species turn out like that?

:person_shrugging: Hopefully, we don’t have to that find out in real time.

Yeah, that would seem like a dark future… Which is why I wonder a species would drift towards it…

Maybe a species that has developed a low/lack of empathy for fellow beings? Or maybe they worship money above everything else? :person_shrugging:

Maybe if this emerged in the very early days of their society…

I would not be surprised when someone eventually creates a civilization that acts as greedy as Mr. Krabs…

Maybe it will also be a civ of strangely cartoonish crabs aswell…

now vent-like shapes appear in the vents.

I wonder if these shapes will eventually have chunks coming out of them during Vent Eruptions? Also, will Ultramafic rocks like Komatiite be eventually added, since Microbe Stage takes place at a such an time in Planetary Geological History when such rock types would have been prevalent.

Or even burning Sulfur? Suflur melts into a red liquid, and burns blue!

And later when the game has continental break ups, black Natrocarbonatite that solidifies white!

Wouldn’t it be too cool underwater for that?

Water in a Black Smoker can reach over 400 Β°C (752 Β°F). Sulfur melting with dark red color forms above 200 Β°C (392 Β°F), so it might be possible to see molten red sulfur in Underwater Volcanic Vents.

Wouldn’t it get much colder immediately upon leaving the area of water next to the vent? Like below 100 or so degrees as it is like in the game?

It takes about a meter for it to drop from the 350+ to around 60. So the entire Hydrothermal Vent Patch is located in a tiny silver of the vent.
